Savage Worlds Bug Reports

Thank you!
Though it's weird, none of those settings gave me the little "update needed" warning.

There was a time with one of the previous updates I did on those files where I think I put in the wrong unique ID for the setting. That's a back-end thing, mind you, and we now have reminders of what we originally set them to but when I put the wrong one in the setting files would always show that an update was needed even though the latest one was already downloaded and installed. I wonder if this is a possible leftover if you had any of the files that had that wrong id set on them. I thought they showed up as needed and update when I did them for myself, though. I'll double-check the dates I set as well.

EDIT: Hmm... they look right in the little update interface we use to update data files. Unless I forgot to increment the version number or something, maybe. The following were all of the ones I updated, if it helps:

Savage Settings: 50 Fathoms 1.6
Savage Settings: Deadlands Noir 3.6
Savage Settings: East Texas University 1.2
Savage Settings: Hell on Earth 3.7
Savage Settings: Necessary Evil 1.1
Savage Settings: Pirates Spanish Main 1.5
Savage Settings: Tour of Darkness 1.7
Savage Settings: Weird War II 1.6
Savage Settings: Weird Wars: Rome 1.1

Using the DLR setting in the updater, yes...and double/triple checked for updates, though always possible I missed something. There are a few other odd things I see, if it is 'on the list'. Like Arcane powers don't seem to be limited to certain classes; armor like motorcycle helmets and Kevlar vests are available (a bit anachronistic) - these seem to be in the "Modern" setting, and clearing that as an option removes guns, which is less than helpful.

I will message you and Dartnet as you suggest - thanks!

I did verify that, at least when using my DLR data file, that Humans have 1 free Edge. I'd be very surprised if that wasn't true for the default file as well, though. For anachronistic stuff you should, indeed, uncheck the all of the standard gear era stuff, so it should only show Deadlands gear. In no way should doing that remove any of the Deadlands specific gear like guns and such. What, exactly, are all of the setting checkboxes you have checked if you go to Character -> Configure Hero?

I have not tried your update file yet, but attaching screen shots from my app showing the impact of checking/unchecking the 'Harrowed' option. With Harrowed, I can have three edges, but get an extra Grit point and Dominion is added. Without it, I have overspent on Edges...you can also see my Hindrances - Curiosity (Major), Loyalty and Quirk (both Minor). I used 2 points to get an extra Ability point in addition to the third Edge.

You are right on the Gear...if I clear 'Modern', the anachronistic stuff disappears but guns are kept, not sure what I saw before. What is odd, I think, is the Flint and Steel I had purchased shows as invalid without Modern...didn't they have those in the 19th century...?

Thanks for your help!

I see now what disappears without Modern options - Bullets for my .44 Colt Army pistol. There is a generic 'Ammo' option which would seem to be similar, but the price is $1 for 50, while the Players Guide list them at $3. I guess I can take a discount. :) But those are not able to be tracked as single bullets/ammo in the "In Play" section...so not really as helpful.

The screenshots you show are right. As a Human you get 1 free Edge and in that screen you took only 1 Edge as a Reward, by taking 1 more Edge you are, in fact, overspent by 1 Edge. Harrowed gain 1 Extra Edge beyond that (which is supposed to be taken from Harrowed Edges) so your screen showing 3 Edges with the 1 Free for being Human to begin with and the 1 purchased as a Reward from Hindrances taken, would also be correct.

As for gear, if you uncheck the eras you are telling the program that you don't want to show the standard gear from the Savage Worlds Deluxe book, which for Deadlands is probably appropriate because of the cost differences. So while Flint and Steel is certainly appropriate for Deadlands it's not something listed in the actual Deadlands gear list, it's from the SWD gear list. It's really a GM call as to if you want to only allow what is in the Deadlands books or if you want to include things that are in SWD as well.

As for bullets, again that should be from what's in Deadlands. If the book only lists things being sold as a "lot", like a box of bullets, then that's what's usually put in for what can be purchased. You should still be able to remove single bullets as you use them when tracking your ammo, it's only how they can be bought, is all. I'd double-check against the Deadlands books to make sure they are right, but my guess is that is probably about right for that.

Ah...I guess the bug is in my head, not the tool. For some reason I was thinking everyone gets an Edge to start...and then Humans get an extra (free) Edge. Back to the drawing board for me...thank you for your patience! :)

SPC2: Switchable Powers Error

I've got a pair of switchable powers--the melee and ranged functions of a high-tech battle staff--which are both showing an error, with the error reading "Individual Switchable cost exceeds base power cost".

Okie. Didn't remember reading about that one, so I thought I should mention it now in case you hadn't seen it.

I vaguely remember this may be a known bug, but just in case it isn't: if you're building an unlimited NPC the program still throws red error if you, for example, exceed the maximum Hindrances or take an Edge you don't have the rank pre-req for.

I know this is kind of last minute, but if you choose the Attack, Ranged option in SPC2, and toggle the Thrown option, it still uses Shooting as the skill. It should use Thrown.

Well, yes and no. It alters the value in the Attack Powers Summary just like it says it does. But I can see where it should be doing it everywhere else as well. Let me see what I can do.

Well, the good news about those is if you'd missed it at this time, doing a houserule code fix on that is pretty easy, unlike some of these things. I've just been too lazy to do it.

Just noticed that on the statblock output for the SPC2, the entry for Regeneration lists the regeneration time in hours no matter what level you've bought.

Edit: This actually looks like its a more broad issue that the statblock format for characters with the SPC2 Super Powers seems to be, well, rather limited.

This is probably way too late to do anything about, but having the in-play toggles in the SPC2 just show "Super Edge" for a bunch of things is really less than useful. There's no way I can tell to tell what Edge you're actually toggling except by seeing what the toggle does.
