Savage Worlds Adventure Edition

It sounds like you'll get it all in the current version, it's just that anything coded specifically for SWADE with have to have this new tag on it, is all. So all of the old data files, I'm guessing, will work fine in either version that is selected (for the most part, I think) but if any of us want to create SWADE compatible version we'd just need to copy out what we wanted changed and put that tag on them, maybe. Although how do we handle conditional precludes (like an Edge for SWD that gives a bonus to Charisma and I create a replacement for a SWADE version that gives the bonus to Persuasion instead)? Not a big deal, it'll just mean playing around once SWADE is released if any of us want to update our data files to include SWADE changes (might mean a separate SWADE version of the file?)
 
I have done my best to make the current Companion material compatible with SWADE. Pinnacle is still working on the actual conversions of their material, they are working on Sci-Fi and Fantasy first.
 
Kind of anxious for SWADE to make it's appearance in HL so can get going on Savage Rifts, Deadlands: Lost Colony, Deadlands (KS next week) and a couple others. :)

1. Will this be a brand new data file, or will anyone that can access the current build of Savage Worlds be able to get their hands on the SWADE data files?

It's going to be a rules option for the SW game system that overlays the current one. Also has a couple of other associated rules options with it, such as using the previous format of knowledge skills in SWADE and some of the SWADE consolidated skills in the previous editions if you don't want to fully convert. Don't 100% quote me on the additional rules variations, it's been a bit, but rest assured this is definitely coming!

I'm the one causing the hold-up at this point. I've been told everything is ready within the data files. However, I still need to get stuff into place on the server so that we can officially release it. And I'm spread way too thin across a bunch of very different and very important tasks right now. At this point, I'd say that it's a high probability I'll get it dealt with for release next week, but it's not a sure thing. So keep those fingers crossed...

I finally managed to get to work on my remaining piece of it this week, but I ran into a complication. I may have gotten it figured out last night, but it needs more testing still to be sure. <fingers crossed>

Thanks for posting those over here for those of us with absolutely no reason to hang out on the HLO forum (since HLO doesn't support Savage Worlds, after all)
 
No problem :). Getting status updates is actually the only reason I check the HLO forums right now, as I'm a PF1 and SW player and neither is HLO supported.

But I happened to catch that Rob is checking only HLO forums right now, so I'm asking about SWADE over there and getting occasional updates.
 
It's available in the store now for $12.99. I just bought it though it isn't registering for me even after reactivating the license half a dozen times and restarting HL Classic the same amount.

Starting skills aren't there and starting with 15 skill points instead of 12 was what tipped me off that something wasn't right.

There's no option to click "SWADE" and there isn't any indication that the data files were even added to my account with the exception of the data files product site where it says I own the SWADE files for HL.

So disappointing. :(
 
We had a problem with the deployment yesterday, which is why we didn't announce anything. The new Savage Worlds data files didn't get properly deployed, which are obviously necessary since they include all the SWADE stuff. We'll hopefully have it all sorted in a few hours, after everyone is back in the office.

Sorry for the hassle. It won't be much longer.

I just came in to report that it's all been fully verified on our end, and some of you have apparently been waiting not-so-patiently. Definitely like Christmas morning!

Thanks for your perseverance during the deployment issue. I'm glad it's all working correctly now!
 
OK, so, it is out in the world now.
Since we did not get to do the megatesting we talked about, beat this thing up.
Let me know where it's broke so's I can fix it.
There are a lot of moving parts in this update, and a lot changed. I tried to be as thorough as I could with cross-checking everything, and the Companion material is a best guess until they complete their updates at Pinnacle.
 
Well, our group is still using the Deluxe rules for a fantasy setting. With the new SWADE update, if you turn the SWADE rules off and then select the Deluxe option to replace Climbing/Swimming/Throwing with Athletics, the Athletics skill is no longer available. This seems to be happening in PC and Mac versions in case that is sometimes an issue.
