Pathfinder Community Data Sets....

As soon as you get this first error HL has gone into safe mode and it won't load ANY .user file. So any error after this first one is not that important as its all caused by the .user file not loading.

ShadowChemosh,

Is there anything I need to do to get Hero Lab OUT of save mode? Just restart it? I'm not having any problem I just want to know in case it's stuck in safe mode and I don't know it.

Thanx,

Kizan

After rectifying any problems with Hero Lab press ctrl+r to reload the data files and it'll be fully restored.
This saves you restarting the whole program!

Thanks!

Kizan
Just to be clear you have to more than likely use the Editor to FIX the problem before Ctrl-R will work. Also you have to have the Debugging option turned on also to have Ctrl-R to work. Sorry can't remember the menu pull down this is on.

The other way is to remove the .user file that is causing the issue. With the new import (.hl) files this can also be done by going to to Tools->Manage Third-Party Updates...

Hello All,

New Updates. :)

Latest Updates 12/2/2011

Updated We Be Goblins v1.4 (2011.12.02).hl by chava with fixes by ShadowChemosh. Special thanks to Kizan with help finding issues. Encounters and Pre Gen characters for the We Be Goblins FREE RPG DAY module.

This is a .hl file which means it is a Hero Lab Import File. This will make importing of community add-ons much easier. After downloading simply double click on the .hl file and Hero Lab will start prompting you to install the new data set. This importer will install all the files into the correct locations for you.

In your "\portfolios\pathfinder\" folder you will find a new folder now called "We Be Goblins" stores the .por or character files.

Download at d20pfsrd in the Pathfinder Modules folder.

Note: To remove start HL and go to "Tools->Manage Third-Party Updates..."

I don't have the PC in front of me at the moment, but it is in the Wayfinder #02 .user file. When I go to try and fix it, I can't as it calls out the skCrafGuns skillrank to use as a prerequisite but it does not add that skill. The same user file works fine on my desktop is why it is irritating and strange.

Well that is interesting as I have that exact file in my houserules data set and it works.

Are you getting any errors as soon as you load up Pathfinder? Anything maybe about "Duplicate Things"? Just wondering if the error is actually somewhere else which then causes HL to go into safe mode and not load the .user file. Then you try and load a .por character file?

When you get near your PC post any and all errors you get and we will see if we can track the issue down. :)

This sounds like a Ultimate Combat / Wayfinder 02 duplicate error! I had the same issue a few months ago and just removed the Wayfinder user file.

I think it's the craft guns skill casing the issue.

Here is the exact error:

The data files could not be loaded due to errors. Hero Lab will now attempt to load them in recovery mode. Once loaded, you can access the editor as normal to correct any errors.

The following errors occurred:

Syntax error in 'pre-requisite rule' script for Thing 'cGunslin' on line 1
-> Non-existent thing 'skCrafGuns' used by script

This happens as soon as I load the Pathfinder set and before selecting a file or making a new one. I am going to see about removing Wayfinder #02 .user file.

EDIT: Removed Wayfinder #02.user file. Now I get the following error:

The data files could not be loaded due to errors. Hero Lab will now attempt to load them in recovery mode. Once loaded, you can access the editor as normal to correct any errors.

The following errors occurred:

Source 'PZO9500_5' - Reference to non-existent parent source 'pPaizo'

The error here does not make sense. It should be a "Duplicate Thing" issue as it does look like I never uploaded the fixed version of the file to d20pfsrd. The issue being that the PrC "Gunslinger" clashed with the base class in UC called "Gunslinger". I have now uploaded version 1.1 to d20pfsrd.

This is why I have started using S2 in everything I do to prevent these duplicate thing errors from coming up. :) But I did this file when I first was learning HL.

You must have also removed the PFRPG_3PP_Sources.1st also as your "We Be Goblins" won't load now without that file. Probably best to simply download the latest version which is 1.4 so you don't have any more issues with that also.

Downloaded the new files and added the .1st files but still receive this error when Wayfinder #02 is in my path:

The following errors occurred:

Syntax error in 'pre-requisite rule' script for Thing 'cPrCGunsli' on line 1

With it removed now everything loads fine. Thanks for the help!

I simply don't have an answer as I can't duplicate the error. Everything works fine for me. I even put into my CoRE only data set and it still worked fine.

I really think there is some other error maybe your not seeing. Because I don't see any reason for the error your getting. I am sorry I don't know what else to do at this point. :(

I think there is an error log somewhere. Hmm if I get time will see if I can find where that is.

Hey Neo, do you have all the packages for PF? it looks like the advanced players guide package i not working or installed for some reason.

Yes, I own all of the packages(some are in bundles though). Like I said, it doesn't bother me that this particular .user file doesn't work as it only deals with Gunslingers and I never play them.

Issue in the "Council of Thieves" data set.

If you get this error after loading the "Council of Thieves" data set:
Code:
Thing 'rCTAspidoc' - Bootstrap thing 'raWhaCapsi' does not exist
Thing 'rTHLichSha' - Bootstrap thing 'rachilltch' does not exist
Thing 'rTHLichSha' - Bootstrap thing 'raLSDeathr' does not exist
Thing 'rTHLichSha' - Bootstrap thing 'raspellech' does not exist
This means you have to also install the "Second Darkness" data set also. Yea the CoT requires Things created for Second Darkness.

Sorry I don't have time to fix this right now so simply install the Second Darkness will fix the issue for now. I will work on a real fix as soon as I can. :)

As the things that are referenced in Second Darkness already existed I didn't want to reinvent the wheel by duplicating the data. If it's a really big problem though I'll revisit the data and correct it myself, whilst I input the next module data.

Just for reference the raWhaCapsi thing is from the official bestiary datasets. However Capsize now redone.
The other 3 abilities have been redone to eliminate the missing things error! Both files re-sent to shadow!

Council of thieves dataset now amalgamated into one file, and reassigned with new bootstraps to prevent missing things errors!
