Issues with Hero Lab after 5.3 Update

After tonight's Pathfinder Society game I updated to the current version and went to update the journal of the character I played this evening and discovered two issues.

1. My character, a grandfathered Tiefling (I hit level 4 tonight), is making HL complain it is not a valid PFS character, which it is due to being created before Season 6 started (Which was today). I can't figure out how to make it stop complaining and its driving me nuts.

2. My character was Osirian, which, as of today is no longer a valid faction choice. My "new" faction is Scarab Sages, which is what I entered for tonight's game. Prior to tonight I had 16 Prestige with Osirian. Tonight I gained 2 PP with Scarab Sages. The issue is its registering it as a "new" faction, instead of merging the totals together meaning my "new" faction will not sell me anything, instead of changing my limit from 3000 to 5250.
I'm guessing I could brute force it by deleting the old faction in each log, and choosing Scarab Sages, but not only is that seem like a huge pain for all my characters except one (who's Silver Crusade) I'm guessing it will break my ability to use my existing faction vanities.

As a related note, in Season 6, according to the Guide To Pathfinder Society Organized Play page 17, all characters are allowed a free faction change. How is this handled, other than the aforementioned manually delete and re-choose the new faction for each entry?

Hi there,

1. Please submit a bug report about this - I'm not 100% sure what the issue is, but our tech support should be able to help you.

2. You'll find instructions in the Pathfinder FAQ under the "My character belongs to a retired faction - how do I change factions?" heading about switching factions. Briefly, you need to add the same amount of fame / prestige you currently have to the new faction, then subtract any remaining from the old faction. Then you can spend points from your new faction as normal.

3. You can change your faction by selecting the "Faction - no longer a member" adjustment on the Personal tab, then following the instructions listed there.

Hope this helps!

After a bit if digging I found this thread, which includes a post by Mathias in which he basically says its working as intended, so new players dont assume they can do something because Hero Lab says they can. The real issue, as got pointed out in that thread is it causes a validation error that cant be gotten rid of, even if its "allowed" due to boon / grandfathering etc, that experienced players will just ignore it, and thus never notice when a new, actual validation issue pops up, as we assume its just the "invalid race" issue again. I will enter a bug report, mostly on hopes that a fix to be able to ignore a particular validation error, or add boons etc gets added in so as to avoid this issue for folks in the future.

Doing an advanced search for the phrase "My character belongs to a retired faction" and selecting HL - Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and Hero Lab Discussion nets me one result,... this post. The only two FAQish posts I could find was your post in Hero Lab Discussion which had five topics none of them even close to in-depth enough to cover this, and one by ShadowChemosh which has piles of useful information, just not on this topic. Would you mind linking the FAQ you are referring too? I am guessing I am just going to use the method you mentioned in number 3?

Ah, that worked, thank you.

My adjustment addon has several PFS ones that allow feats, archetypes, equipment, and races be valid for PFS. Races on the downside I can't do all as some are hard coded into HL. :(

So that can help you out some I think.

You can find the Pathfinder FAQ under the Help menu within Hero Lab.
