AncientOne's Custom Pathfinder Sheet

Yes... this can happen with arbitrarily long lists like weapons and equipment. The sheet doesn't support wrapping those items onto another printed page because there's no browser-neutral way to know where to "break" the list when printing. The current versions of browser print engines suck otyugh tentacles. :(.

Odd,

What is the difference then between yours and Armidale's? Because his does wrap to the next page.

This is one of the features that is still stopping me from using your sheet.

Though your goal is not to get one guy to use your sheet..;)

(Long-winded reply warning... :o)

I think the best way to describe it is to say that Armidale's sheet is less aware of printed pages at all (which is NOT a criticism, btw; it's a perfectly reasonable design choice for anything browser-based), so with his sheet you see some of the same default behavior that you would get if you printed any arbitrarily-long web page... i.e., it gets cut off at the end of the physical page and just picks up where it left off on the next physical page. He's modified that default behavior only slightly in specific areas.

For better or worse, I made a decision early on to attempt to make my sheet printer-page-oriented; i.e., I was going for a WYSIWYG effect between the screen and the printed page, and I took advantage of the latest HTML5 features for controlling printed layout.

That decision of mine has had unforseen consequences. It worked great at the beginning, when I was doing everything for my own benefit, on the browser I happen to use. Then, as more people were interested in the sheet and I added support for other browsers, I discovered that the print-related features of HTML5 are not fully supported yet (or are extremely buggy) on certain browser/OS combinations. So, I had to compromise and back away from using those features in certain areas.

The result is what you see today. It works in most cases and does have some advantages, but it "fails" (from a layout perspective) in this particular situation.

Why haven't I ditched this approach altogether, then? Because it's still my goal to achieve my original design and make it WYSIWYG. I'm keeping track of the relevant defects in the bug databases of the major browsers so that I can do that when they release their fixes.

Hey, a issue that I'm not sure if its come up yet.

too many weapons and equipment
My latest Adjustment addon can now be used to set weapons to no longer display in the Weapon section of a printed character sheet. The weight and everything will still display.

Don't know if your like the other person I was talking to where he has a bunch of weapons he is carrying for the group but not using. So here you add the adjustment and can mark those weapon to not print to the character sheet. Also nice as they will get saved with the character so you can do it once and then forget about it.

I tested this with both the HL sheet and AncientOne's sheet and it works great.

Just letting people know. :)

thanks, this is actually one of my players who carries all these weapons on him to pull out against different monsters... but I might use that in the future to solve these issues.

I'm not sure why just yet (as I'm headed into game time), but I have 7th level gunslinger with a sheet problem.

HL reports his +2 Corrosive Pepperbox (one handed non-rifle) damage as 1d8+7+1d6 acid.

The sheet reports his damage as 1d8+2+1d6 acid.

Can upload sheet or data or something if needed. I haven't had a chance to try and recreate with a different PC.

Second request. I use ShadowCemosh (spelling) adjustment addon that allows for "weapon order" groups. It's great put certain weapons first on the list on the sheet. The current sheet doesn't use that "weapon order" function. Can it be implemented?

Thanks,

Kizan

Hmmm... I would need to see the XML that you get by using "File -> Save Custom Output" and then selecting the "Generate XML File" option. However I can tell you that the sheet doesn't calculate/modify the damage in any way--it just displays whatever HL puts in the XML.

Another Hmmm... I haven't tried this adjustment myself (haven't needed to). I think he tested it on 4.7, and the sheet is now on 4.8. I don't recall making any changes related to weapon order but, of course, I could have forgotten something. I'll have to look into it.

Hmmm yea that is very strange. As its adjusting the way weapons are sorted/listed in HL and then HL had been just outputting in the same order.

In this case I would be interested in the actual .por file for testing to see if something is unique on this character that is messing with it.

Version 4.8

Situational modifiers below saves:
First: Fantastic addition.

However, while it is showing situational modifiers from feats and class, it isn't showing the situational modifier from traits (or at least not Carrion Crown's 'Making Good on Promises' trait - which gives a +2 trait bonus vs fear effects).

Not sure if this has to do with the coding for those particular traits or traits in general.

However, I've noticed a similar error with a trait from Shattered Star - 'Serpent Runner (Two Weapons)'. That feat reduces your primary hand penalty for two-weapon fighting by one (so -1 with primary, -2 with off-hand) and this works in Hero Lab, but the out put 'print two-weapon attacks' does not reflect the trait.

Thank you very much for a fantastic character sheet.

Thanks for the feedback Chava! The sheet doesn't have any coding specific to a given feat or trait... it just displays the situational modifier(s) that HL outputs in the XML. You can confirm this by looking at the XML itself, and you might need to post something in the HL bug-report thread.

Ah... now this one probably is a shortcoming of the sheet. :( I'll take a look at it.

Hey AncientOne. Actually using your sheet for the first time. Love it. Two minor things that I was hoping you could work in.

One is the ability to remove some spells from the spell description section. The reason I ask is, I have a 1st level Oracle, and when I print it out, it includes the descriptions for the Inflict spells, including those I don't have access to yet. Not a big deal, but adds to the clutter since it doubles the number of spell descriptions.

Two is, I don't see the Concentration bonus anywhere on the sheet. Not sure if that's something that can be passed to the custom sheets or not.

Thanks for the feedback Sendric! Both of these are doable... I'll add them to my list. :)

Hmm... I'm not calculating the flurry value at all; I'm just taking it from the XML that Hero Lab produces and displaying it on the sheet. Can you share the XML for the character with the incorrect data?

You can create the XML file by using "File -> Save Custom Output" and then select the "Generate XML File" option.

Sorry, haven't been able to check the boards in a while. I'm a newbie with these forums, and it won't let me attach the XML file. How should I get it to you?

Thanks for your help with this.

Ah, thanks. Here it is.

Interesting... HL has done something I didn't expect in the XML. I'll need to make a tweak to the sheet for it.

There's the 'flurry of blows' ability itself (-1/-1) -- the sheet correctly displays this in the 'special abilities' section.
There's an entry on the weapon (+1/+1) -- this is the one the sheet is displaying in the weapon section, and it's correct for melee weapons.
There's an entry on the "rangedattack" element within the weapon (+0/+0). -- I'm not using this at all, but I'm guessing I *should* be using this one instead of the one above for ranged weapons.

<attack baseattack="+0" rangedattack="+0" meleeattack="+0" attackbonus="+0">
<special name="Flurry of Blows -1/-1 (Ex)" type="Extraordinary Ability" sourcetext="Monk" shortname="Flurry of Blows -1/-1"></special>
</attack>

<ranged>
<weapon name="Masterwork Composite longbow (Str +0)" damage="1d8" categorytext="Projectile Weapon" quantity="1" crit="x3" attack="+1" typetext="P" equipped="bothhands" flurryattack="+1/+1">
<rangedattack attack="+1" flurryattack="+0/+0" rangeincvalue="110'" rangeinctext="110'"/>
</ranged>
