AncientOne's Custom Pathfinder Sheet

Umm no a Double Weapon works exactly the same as if you had a Longsword/shortsword combo. So if you move you get a single attack only and only during a Full-Round action can you get to Two-Weapon Fighting.

I always thought that the bonuses were "slightly more beneficial" for a double-weapon (ie, that that was the point of using a double-weapon). Guess I was wrong. Bollocks.

NM.

Did you change the HTML behind the sheet? Not complaining mind you, just asking. Prior to this version, I would export my character, directly edit the sheet in Studio, add another block with a weapon, and then make modifications from there (i.e. I'd add Longsword (PA), then add all the relevant Power Attack changes), print my sheet and be done. However, when I went in today, it didn't appear that information was there and that weapons were now displayed via jscript functionality. Can you confirm?

Yes, I changed it in version 4.0. The new approach is described in this long-winded post.

Hrm. Right then. I guess I'll have to put in requests for:
1. Cloning Weapon Entries (that I can then edit)
1a. Ability to Edit bonus to hit and dmg
2. Re-order Weapon Entries

These are all things that should be done in HL itself. I don't see why the same ability needs to be in multiple places.

1) Cloning Weapons you can just add the same weapon again as suggested above and set the weapon to the "Ground" container.

1a) The "Adjust" tab already has this feature to add all sorts of bonuses. If you need more see my "addon" that adds tons of new abilities.

2) You can already sort of do this by adding a "Custom" weapon and giving it a new name that either gives a space or a number in the front. Then HL will sort them in a different order.

Ehhhhh, that's kinda lame. (Not your fault). That should be a core functionality, I'd imagine. It should be set up so the primary weapons that I use (which only I know, not the software) can be moved up to the top of the list.

Gear issue

I have been having trouble with printing the AncientOne sheet.

A character has so much gear that not all of it will print on the sheet; it gets cut off at the bottom and the next page just picks up with the next section...

Thanks for the suggestions, SC. :) I can see your point, BUT, at the same time, I don't particularly agree. I maintain character states for all the players...part of this, we use for loot valuation of a character. How much gear they have. Adding multiple weapons of the same type throws that. Plus, if I get a new weapon, now I have to add two/three/four of the same weapon. Also, what if it's a natural weapon? Can I even add multiple bite attacks to represent that?

Ultimately, I consider it a responsibility of the app to track the actual items owned and the responsibility of the sheet to adjust displays for attack types / feats. If it doesn't get done, I'll live. I'm certainly not going to stop using the sheet because of this. As I know that the sheet uses JS to do what it's doing, I felt that it wasn't unreasonable to ask about adding some new methods to handle this stuff. HL is great if you are using it as a "Live" character sheet at the table. I prefer paper at the table, and paper sheets are the realm of the export.

The software does know if you have the weapon active in your hand(s)...

But that changes from encounter to encounter.

Sometimes I've got my sword in my hand because I'm in melee. Sometimes people are escaping/approaching and I use my long-bow. But maybe I have both a sling and a longbow. How does the software know "which of these weapons I use more often"? It doesn't, really.

It's not asking a lot to say "when you've got multiple attack forms, let the uer decide what order they are output in, so that the ones they use most often are at the top."

I agree, I'm just saying that there is -some- application awareness. Even in a single combat, I switch. I have a sword and board two weapon fighter. Depending on who I'm attacking at the time I might not two weapon attack just for the added +2. That's why I like to have a lot of crap on my sheet. :) We try to run really fast combats at our table and fast math is error prone math. And I forget things.

Hmmmm if I get time this weekend I "think" I could make an adjustment that would allow you to select your weapon and set its priority to say "1" or "2" and have it sort the list that way. I am "thinking" it would output to the XML the right way then.

I am sort of guessing right now so will have to see. I maybe forced to put a number like "1" or something in front of the weapons name to get the sorting to work. Ummm will see..... :)

I have a new Adjustment that appears to working correctly. So feel free to try it out. The new "Weapon Order" adjustment allows you to change the display order of weapons both in HL and a printed character sheet. Please read the detailed help on the adjustment for how this works. What you are doing is setting the Priority of the weapon in the list to a value of 1 to 10. The default value is zero so a weapon set to 1 will display before all the zero priority weapons. A weapon set to 2 is displayed before all the priority 1 and 0 weapons in the list etc etc...

I tested it with AncientOne's sheet and it seems to be working nicely. If you find any issues please report it in the "Pathfinder Community Data Sets...." thread not here.

Attached to this post is a pdf example showing how I have a "Wooden Stake" displaying first in the list where normally a "W" weapon would be at the end.

Hope people find this useful. :)

Flurry attack bonus for Zen Archer

I made a Zen Archer and the output for the flurry attack bonus is wrong. At first level, the regular attack bonus and the flurry attack bonus are the same, but the flurry should be -1/-1

The values within Hero Lab are correct, so this is definitely a problem with the character sheet somewhere.

Minor nitpick because it came up, but in general really impressed with the sheet, and it is the one I will be using to run my campaign. Thanks for all the work!

Hmm... I'm not calculating the flurry value at all; I'm just taking it from the XML that Hero Lab produces and displaying it on the sheet. Can you share the XML for the character with the incorrect data?

You can create the XML file by using "File -> Save Custom Output" and then select the "Generate XML File" option.

Hey, a issue that I'm not sure if its come up yet.

too many weapons and equipment

Look at the attached files.

having too many weapons just does not print right, as well as equipment.

you need to have a excess weapons and equipment fold onto a new page.

they appear fine in the html as show, but don't print correctly.

The images show what's not making it to the print. and pages are not coming out cleanly at the same time.

Hey, a issue that I'm not sure if its come up yet.

too many weapons and equipment

Yes... this can happen with arbitrarily long lists like weapons and equipment. The sheet doesn't support wrapping those items onto another printed page because there's no browser-neutral way to know where to "break" the list when printing. The current versions of browser print engines suck otyugh tentacles. :(

That rant aside, the sheet does have couple of work-around features for you that you can get to by enabling "On-Sheet Controls":

1) You can hide/delete weapons and equipment that you don't use often (not an ideal solution, but it's an option) -- click the red button on the upper right of the item.

2) You can change the style of the weapon and/or equipment lists to a more compact style that just doesn't take up as much space -- click the "refresh" button on the upper left of the section to rotate through the available styles.

Or some combination of both.

When I go to output custom sheet, I keep getting the following error about 50% of the time, and one character I get it on 100% of the time...the only things on the screen is:

Need Help?

And yes, I have the current browser.

Hmm... haven't heard of this one in a while. Thanks for reporting it.

Which browser and OS are you using? Do you have version 4.7 of the sheet?

Can you share the XML file for the character that has the issue 100% of the time? That would help me debug the problem. You can create the XML file by using "File -> Save Custom Output" and then select the "Generate XML File" option.
