List of what is actually in the SRD?

Is there a list or summary of what is in the SRD and what is not? I'm just trying to decide whether to buy or not. I've read that a number of things are not included but is there any comprehensive list of what's missing?

There are other threads discussing this that have links I'm too lazy to look up right now. Suffice it to say, that you likely cannot play most characters in a 5th edition campaign in HL using only the SRD. The value of the SRD is that it provides a framework for the community to fill in the gaps.

If you are not a do-it-your-selfer or are not not comfortable with scripting languages and don't want to deal with the learning curve of using the HL editor to add custom content and rules to fill in the gaps, I would wait a few weeks to a couple months until the community has put of the files with the mechanics necessary to create any character type.

As it is now, you will not have most of the subclasses, none of the freat (well, okay *ONE* feat), no backgrounds, and some spells are missing.

Note that when the community fills in the gaps, due to IP issues, the community files will only have the mechanics. If you want the full flavor text from the PHB, you'll need to fill that in yourself, but that is much easier to edit. It is coding the mechanics that is the challenge. Besides, you don't really need all the flavor text to actually play the character.

Other will have more details. But if you are hoping to buy the SRD for HL and be able to use it to create and play characters in 5e campaigns, off the shelf, you'll be disappointed.

I bought it thinking it was more complete. (I am really pleased with the M&M 3E content)

I am a little upset with the lack of material. Hard to justify paying $20 to add this to my Hero Lab

I am really hoping that this great community gets all of the information from the PHB into a user file that they post somewhere to share.

The package is well worth the $20. Sure it is limited, but that is due to licensing issues with WotC. At least with what they can legitimately put out, the rest of us now have a framework which does allow the community to add everything else if we want to put in the effort.

If you can't, or won't, code; then you are right, its not worth your money. For those of us who can and will put in the time and effort, then $20 is darn cheap for what we got.

It's true, if someone can't code HL-SRD5 currently is not usable as standalone tool. Currently.

From an IT manager's perspective, however, the situation is a nightmare. All over the world skilled developers work to achieve the same stuff others did before. A common repository could really help here. Does anybody have plans to set something up?
