When I right click things like elven abilities, the program pops up with an interface to "Edit Name" or "Delete"...yet these items are always grayed out.

Why can't I delete say Elven Magic from an Elf whose character doesn't have it?

In HL only things that have been added from the same table by a user are deleteable.

If you want to remove one of the standard abilities, you can either build the race in the editor without that ability and have it replace the standard, or make an ART that replaces/disables it (and adds something else, if you desire). I'd go the ART route, since it sounds like this guys character is lacking Elven Magic, but not all elves are.

Okay I can buy that.

But out of curiosity why does it appear to offer the option?

Simplicity in programming so when it is user added it shows up with a right click and and then works? I guess thats why its grayed out.

Same for edit name then?

Thanks.

The delete option does work (subject to the same limitations from my earlier post), but in all the places that it works there is also a button you can click to delete things. The rename option doesn't work anywhere I can find in Pathfinder. Perhaps it is present for use in other game systems? I'm not entirely sure.

I have a similar problem. I have entered several creatures in the pets category, but do to my lack of experience I made a few errors so I deleted the creatures from the editor. However when I actually go into the Character creation, these creatures are still there as options for the players, which is not only confusing but messy.
Is there some area that I have to go to to remove the other entries?

After deleting something in the editor, you have to reload the game system before it no longer appears for selection.

After you delete the creature from the editor, you need to reload in order to see those options go away.

Do you mean reload Hero Lab or just close the program and start it up again?
I have gone back into the program several times and the other options are still there.

Just close down HL and start it up again. If you still seeing the stuff in HL then that means you didn't actually delete it from the correct .user file. HL loads what is in the .user file it can't load it if it does not exist.

If you really think you deleted it. My advice is to list the steps as so we can help. I have created and deleted thousands of things using the Editor and they always go away.
