I've notice that newer portfolios created in HeroLab are now encrypted, whereas before they were in easy to parse XML formats. I was working on a program that would make reading in portfolios easier for myself, and to use towards creating a third party combat manager eventually, but now I am realizing that newer files won't work.
Is this a change in philosophy? |

Its all ok. Everyone breath!
Its not encrypted but it is in a Binary format just like a Word Document. This is also better known as a Zip File. This is fully documented in HL actually. Go to "Help->Hero Lab Manual->Reading Hero Lab Saved Portfolios". Basically just use any unzip program like 7zip to open the archived file and you will find LOTS of xml, html and text files inside.
