Version 1.5 of the 5th Edition SRD files is now available! This release adds option rules, including spell points, templates, custom monster improvements, andmore! Here's the full list:

Enhancements &amp Changes
  • New optional rules have been added. These can be found under "Optional Rules" on the Configure Hero screen.
    • Spell points: Spell points give a character a 'pool' of points from which to cast spells instead of using spell slots.
    • Optional Honor ability score: This ability score represents a character's adherence to a society's code of conduct.
    • Optional Sanity ability score: This ability score represents a character's ability to remain unshaken in the face of unspeakable horror.
    • Proficiency dice: With this option, characters roll a die for their proficiency bonus instead of using a fixed value
    • Background and personality trait proficiencies: Using either of these options, a character can add their proficiency bonus to an ability check according to their background or personality traits.
  • Templates can now be added on the race tab for NPCs.
  • The Half-Dragon template has been added.

Bug Fixes
  • Type tags have been added for the remaining SRD PC races and subraces.
  • The azer's Heated Body, Heated Weapons, and Illumination abilities weren't showing on the Specials tab.
  • Bonus HP wasn't being added to a custom monster correctly.
  • A custom background's benefit description text wasn't appearing correctly on the printed sheet.
  • Unarmored Defense from the barbarian class wasn't stacking correctly with Unarmored Defense from the monk class.
  • A monk's ki pool wasn't being restored after a short or long rest.
  • A long rest wasn't reducing a character's exhaustion level by 1.
  • Darkvision granted by the belt of dwarvenkind was causing an error.
  • The range can now be set for natural attacks on a custom monster.

Data File Authoring
  • Templates can now be built in the editor.
  • Added the Helper.UndLifLang tag, which can be added to undead races to indicate that they speak the languages they spoke in life.

Updated to v1.5. Now HL crashes.

I installed the update, but now it crashes whenever I attempt to do anything in DnD 5e (except for accessing the editor).

Can you suggest a solution?

Have you tried a fresh install? The fact that you said you can open the editor tells me you are playing with custom content. Try remove all that and see if you receive errors with just hero labs and the try adding back your custom content until you reproduce the error.

Is there an error message?

Wait if your getting to the editor that is NOT crashing then as you can't access the editor without having HL running. So what do YOU mean by "crashing"?

Go to the Personal tab, down towards the bottom, you'll see Permanent Adjustments.

Racial and Bonus feats are there.

If you choose Racial Feats, then the Feat choice will appear on the Race tab.

Bonus Feats will add a new tab (after increasing the counter past 0)

Hello all,

New to Hero Labs so this could be user error; I cannot seem to find where to pick skills for a character I'm adding to Hero Labs.

I would think it would be under the Skills tab, but no such luck. See the attached picture of what I mean.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Am I the only person who can't find the feats in 5E??
SRD 5e only comes with "Grapple". You need to install the Community 5e Pack to get the rest of the feats and stuff.

If you did install the community Pack you need to turn on the community options (ie Sources). See THIS post for details.

Just FYI this only works if you have the Community 5e Pack installed. :)

Did you ever get an answer to this or figure it out? I am having the same Issue and its the only reason I have an issue with this program.

This thread is filled with questions and answers. Please be more specific to what you are asking. Or better just ask your question directly please... :)
