Hi all,
Please forgive me if it is inappropriate to post suggestions here, or if this has already been addressed somewhere else. I did search first, and found some threads about adding custom natural attacks, but that isn't quite what I want.
I've been trying to create in HeroLab a monster from a module that is somewhat customized (the mutated gargoyle from the PF conversion of Tomb of Horrors), and I'm having some difficulty. I'm particularly interested in what PF's estimate of the CR of this beastie is. So here's the process I'm going through:
The gargoyle's description is:
This is what I'm doing:
1. Import a gargoyle from the encounter manager, works fine.
2. Add the Advanced Simple template, no worries.
3. Add the large size, no problems.
4. Add the remaining extra HD to get him up to 12 HD, yup.
5. Add two extra claw attacks. Nope, I'm stuck.
I recognize that I can use the editor to bootstrap some claw attacks, or just use the editor to create the monster race in the first place, but both pose the same problems: I'm specifically trying to see what HeroLab's estimate of the CR is. I believe, in this case, the CR should be higher than what is listed (even without the extra attacks, HeroLab is estimating it as a CR 11 or 12, I don't have it up in front of me right now to remember which).
So, now, with that background I come to my suggestion:
Could natural attacks be worked in like weapons so that to add extra standard natural attacks one could just go to the weapon menu in HeroLab, add a new "weapon" and go to a "Natural Weapons" section and add a given number of the standard natural attacks?
This is different from custom natural attacks in that I'm not looking to make a new natural attack, I don't want new functionality, I don't need to change the name of it, I just want this beastie to have 4 claw attacks instead of the 2 he would normally have.
Would this be possible/desirable in a future version of Hero Lab?
Edit: It seems I can't easily use the editor to do this, either, as the Gargoyle "is defined as part of a supplement" and cannot be copied, duplicated or edited and things created based upon it cannot be saved, so it looks like I'd have to create the gargoyle from scratch myself in order to do this. *sigh*
