Pathfinder: Forgotten Realms requests

Cool. No issue at all as far as I'm concerned - I'm just one of those utterly a-retentive types that likes no validation errors on the character.

Can't thank you enough for all of the work you're doing on this, Raven.

I know there are a lot of people that don't like validation errors, and I'm trying my best to minimize those as I go, but it's going to take time to get everything nailed down. We still have a lot of books to finish, and with just me working on it, it's going to take time to do. My current plan is to get a Races of Faerûn done. Once that's done, I'll decide on the next book. I still have some things to wrap up in the FRCS as well. Might crank through those next.

I've got a lot on my plate right now. I'm probably not going to get any further work done on these files for this month until thanksgiving at the earliest.

Half-drow is the biggie for me - since my long-running FR campaign is getting close to the point where the next generation of characters is due to become available, and I know that one of them is a half-drow. I'd almost reached the point where I was going to do it myself, but since you're far more skilled with the editor than I am, Raven, I'm pretty darn happy that you're implementing it.

Just create a standard Half Elf, go to the racial traits and pick Drow-blooded. That will give you darkvision, light blindness, and remove low-light.

I just want to be clear with readers that the recent Forgotten Realms release pushed out the the d20pfsrd is in no way associated with the data I am currently working on. If you download the update it may create duplicate record errors when I release the new data. Download at your own risk.

I'm only going out of my to specify this here because you won't get any NEW data with that update, and it may create conflicts later when I do release the new files, which we'd want to avoid.

I use your Faerun stuff and add missing things.

I will need a lot of things from the faerun package. I have some time to help you. I am not so good in skripting at the moment and copy the must time functional stuff and change it.

So if you have work for me - here i am.

Is there a easy way to combine two userfiles to one?

Combine, no. Usually I just take new stuff, cut it from the XML file and add it to the data when I have a situation like that, but it is a tedious process. I haven't done the favored class things yet because I'm still trying to hammer out the last of the races from Races of Faerûn. Since the favored class bonuses are a Pathfinder concept, not a 3.5 thing, I just threw it on my to-do list. I will get those added when I have time, but some races won't have them unless we create race specific ones for the races that lack them.

Inputting things in the editor is time consuming, but doable. My preference is for users submitting data to create a new data file, and email the new file in, not add data to the existing files, that way I can just cut and paste the new data into the existing files.. I can't stress this enough. Also, in regards to this, when you download or import an update, the old files are overwritten completely, so if you modified them the update will completely delete everything you added. It is imperative that if you want to add new data that you start with a new data file.

One thing from the core book for FRCS that needs to be done is the new spells/domains from that book. It's not hard, but time consuming, and right now I don't have the time to crank that out. If you could finish that up in a separate file for me, it would make my life better. We also still need domains/spells from Faiths and Pantheons done, once those are cranked out I can add the missing domains to the deities.

D&D 3.5 stuff is sometimes terrible balanced. Maybe some GMs want to deactivated the spells separately.

I am going to start with the spells from the Player Guide to Faerun at the weekend.

I don't worry about Balance, it's up the GM to decide what's allowed or not allowed in a game. I provide the data to the players, what their GMs decide is up to them. I have no control over that. As a GM, I tend to look at things carefully before allowing/disallowing them, after 20 years of strictly running these game systems, I have a feel for balance, I know what will work for me and what won't. Forgotten Realms has always had it's own balance though, if you think a PC is broken in terms of balance, there are equally broken options out there for NPCs to face them. And with Wild Magic, the PCs are only one failed spell from getting sent somewhere like the middle of Undermountain, where their skills can be tested. The GM always has power in the games and divine benevolence or rage behind him. Forgotten Realms is one of the few settings where the Gods walk amongst their followers at times, that black haired woman you tried to attack in the tavern that wanted you to kill someone could be Shar in the flesh. Attacking her without a divine portfolio under your belt would be the last mistake that character ever makes. Cyric never needs a reason to stab a PC in the back, he'll do it for fun or because you inadvertently derailed one of his schemes. Bane never needs a reason either, nor does Bhaal. Right there, you have four deities that could kill a PC without any provocation. The gods in FR are the GMs tools for dealing with unbalanced players. I once had a player call his patron deity a douchebag at the table, not something anyone should call Asmodeus, but it was an open invitation for a quick summoning of the PC into Hell to be confronted by the god granting him his powers. I won't go into detail of what happened to that character, but I will say this, no one in the material plane saw him ever again.

Are any of the races from Races of Faerun available in a dataset yet? I'm specifically looking for the Orog (not from Tome of Horrors). I just purchased Hero Lab today and haven't been able to find it yet.

See the release notes for details on what is included in V.2.0 of the FR data.

This details what is included with the Races of Faerûn and additional tomes included in the latest release.

Currently I have very little personal time to devote to adding data. I am in the process of editing a novel, working on a Pathfinder project for Lone Wolf, and dealing with other things at home that need to be done. I wish I had more hours in the day to devote a few to coding the Realms but right now that is just not possible. I am also looking at my options for creating an XML database setup for distribution of the datafiles on my own. This will take me some time to do, and I just don't have time to spare at the moment. Hopefully in a month or two I will have some free time to dedicate to finishing Races of Faerun to add to the data files for you all and figure out how to get it distributed.

The first post of this thread has a bug reporting thread link. Due to popular demand we have one. Just note that bug reports will be added to the to-do list for the data as they are received but may take me time to get around to fixing.

The Version 2.0 release is currently being tested to ensure it works and loads correctly. I should have more information on this release along with the release notes soon.

v.2.0 Release Notes
These data files are now in the 2.0 beta stage of use. They are still a work in progress & are the efforts of many contributors. They are free to share and use with the community. The reason for shifting to beta was to avoid conflict with Tim Shadow's pfsrd files. He has refused to remove the data from his community files despite my asking numerous times for him to do so and shall become obsolete as I release new data to the community. I will be releasing new data personally with each release, he is getting no further releases from the RavenX Guild for his personal files.

Files updated in this update:
Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting updates
Deities and Spells
-bug fixes. Issue with deities not having source tags fixed.
Races
-Deep Gnomes and Gray Dwarves included.

Forgotten Realms supplement updates
Shining South
-bug fixes.

Files added in this update
Races of Faerun
-Arctic Dwarf, Aquatic Elf, Fey'ri, Half-Drow, Gray Orc, Mountain Orc, Orog, Urdunnir Dwarf, and Wild Dwarf added.
-Weapons, Armor, Equipment, and Special Materials
-Feats. Note: The feats are not completely finished. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes, they will be fixed in a future release.
Player's Guide to Faerun
-Hammer of Moradin prestige class.
Murder in Baldur's Gate
-Data from Murder in Baldur's Gate relevant to the module.

Files removed in this update
Psionics Unleashed
-This data was never included in my personal data files, and that linkage will not appear in any data that I've created. Since the new data overwrites older versions when installed, it will automatically delete the linkage as it was never present in my data. You will need to download a separate version of the psionics data files to get them working, or just wait for Ultimate Psionics or the Expanded Psionics Handbook to be converted.

Greyed Out Sources
I've had a few inquiries regarding the additional sources that are inaccessible. These are planned add-ons to the data. As the data for these books gets added to the source files, these sources will be enabled in future updates. Right now the data files do not include data from these sources so they are not currently enabled.

I have the v.2.0 data release done. I'll be emailing it to those whose email addresses I have that would like to have the data. I will be using email distribution until I have a website setup to handle the data files. PM me email addresses if you want the new iteration of the files. Bear in mind that it may take a few days before I send out the data to you. I will be compiling a list of emails for an update list. Future releases will be sent out using the list of compiled addresses.

Forgotten Realms Version 2.0 Detailed Release notes:
The information contained here shows the status and evolution of the next version of the Forgotten Realms data. I am currently working on implementing things at this time to add to the next update. This will show you what to expect from the next iteration of the data files once its done. I've managed to get the export feature figured out now. Just need to get the website setup for this and we're good. Some of you will undoubtedly notice the 2.0 designation on this data set. That is because I wanted to avoid version conflict with the pfsrd data. 2.0 will be wholly released by me, not through the pfsrd website.

Races of Faerun: Arctic Dwarf, Aquatic Elf, Fey'ri, Half-Drow, Gray Orc, Mountain Orc, Orog, Urdunnir Dwarf, and Wild Dwarf will be included in the next data release. Also included, Weapons, Armor, Equipment, and Special Materials from Races of Faerun are done and added to the data. They're already in the Races of Faerun file that will be made available on the next release. If anyone has anything else from Races of Faerun they'd like added, please post it here and I'll consider adding it at my earliest convenience. Note: Races not included in 1.6 will appear in a later version of the data file. I do plan on adding all of the races from this book eventually, when time permits.

I am currently working on the Feats from this book, but currently do not have a great deal of time to work on it.

Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting Update: Gray Dwarves are being added to the data for the next update (sorry this took so long, I was debating the level adjustment and consulting the Advanced Race Guide). The +1 racial bonus to Listen/Spot checks is now a +1 racial bonus to Perception instead. Changed the light sensitivity to what it was in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting. Nixed the Level Adjustment completely (This was something I had to debate for a while, decided that based on the readjusted power level of the Pathfinder system the level adjustment made no sense, with Duergar having such a low race point rating). Deep Gnomes are also being added in this update. Just like the Duergar, I had to decide upon the level adjustment and could not easily settle on anything. The deep gnomes, or svirfneblin, were changed slightly to match their Faerunian counterparts more. They have not been changed much from the Pathfinder version, however. They have a +1 level adjustment, which I felt was a little more accessible than the +3 they originally had. Deities were missing their source tags, this has been fixed. They should only appear when you have the Forgotten Realms source added. This was fixed awhile ago, it's just getting into this new update. Sorry about that ladies and gentlemen.

Shining South Update: The Thri-Kreen psionic racial abilities are now added via an alternate racial trait, instead of through the race. This will allow users to decide if they want to use the kreen as psionic or not for their campaigns. Non-psionic kreen just ignore the alternate racial trait. The level adjustment has been changed to search for the alternate racial trait instead now as well.

Player's Guide to Faerun: Due to user request, I am planning on adding the Hammer of Moradin prestige class to this update as well.

Forgotten Realms Adventure Modules: The next release will include material from the adventure module Murder in Baldur's Gate for use in campaigns, including a template for the Chosen of Bhaal. I am considering releasing the NPC portfolio with this data as a stock portfolio as well.

Also as part of this release, I have disconnected Psionics Unleashed from the data completely. I will be implementing psionic items later on to work correctly with the newly added psionic data that Lone Wolf Development recently added to the core files for Pathfinder. These options are not working fully as of yet, but will be in a future release. I thank you in advance for your patience.

I am working on spells from the FRCS. Going to try to get the spells from this book done and added for the next release. I've added empty domains to help this along. All the deities now have their missing domains, even if they are not yet linked to spells. I will continue to add spells to the domains as I have time now that I have the domain place holders done.

I am pretty busy right now and will not be able to provide an update on this for a while. If anyone has any requests for data, please note that I may require a contribution from you before adding your request. It doesn't have to be a large contribution (a few spells from you in exchange for what you want added) but I am at a point where I don't have much free time to myself right now, so data requests will be honored if you are first willing to add something to the datafiles for me. (Spells are a definite plus, I do need some help with the spells in the FRCS, PM me for details). I feel this is a fair exchange, since you are asking me to commit time to adding something for you. Prestige classes are more work than I care to put into data entry sometimes, so be prepared for a fair equivalent exchange negotiation for these.

A dragonborn race would be a good edition. We have one in our party and it is the only one we can't put in herolabs exactly well.

I might be able to work that in. I have been converting a few things from 4e when I have time. The pathfinder Advanced Race Guide provides the Wyveran race, which is somewhat close to dragonborn. I'll look into converting it though. I don't think it will be too difficult to do.

I'm working on v.2.1 to release to avoid the conflict with Rite Publishing that was reported. I'll be emailing these files out to people as soon as they're ready to go.
