Mac version status

Just a quick "Me too!" on this issue. I have also seen this, and have tried to reproduce it, but have thus far been unable to do so.

Yup - tooltips block button clicks here as well. Since you're likely layering the tooltips as objects over the window and the button, the OS is likely trapping clicks to them. I'm not sure how to best allow the clicks to pass through since I don't know how you have it set up.

New oddness.

Started HL. Got to the "updates are available" page, and looked at the list of updates. Started to import the new Pathfinder update.

Did a command-tab to switch back to Safari (this forum, actually) and the list of updates stayed over my screen as the top object and blocked everything else.

After that, nothing in HL was responsive and I force-Quit. Restarting HL, it looks like the file import did finish.

Perhaps there was a "we're finished" dialog box that got buried behind the updates list when I switched back, and since I couldn't move the updates list, I couldn't acknowledge it?

Did the exact same thing to me last night... Took a lot of command-tabbing around to get the all done dialog back

I've got the new 3.9a update installed, along with Pathfinder 6.11 and I'm messing around with it. So far, everything seems stable enough, but d20Pro export files are still exporting with the ".*" as part of their filename.

I was able to use Exposé to see all the open windows for the application, and it looks like the "import is underway" window is showing up, it's just that the Z-ordering is wrong. I'm not sure if you could use exposé to switch back to the dialog in order to close it, but that might be an option next time.

I'll confirm this. It looks like the program is hanging until you use Expose to flip between screens and can see that the dialog is hidden by the app and other windows.

Same sort of thing with me. While I was able to load HL and run it fine, the dark blue updates screen never would go away. It just hung on the screen until it was moved under other screens. It did close when i shut down HL though.

Also noticed a slight issue, when you mouse over a button in HL a text appears to tell you what it is. But the text blocks you from being able to click on the button and perform the command.

Can you describe what you mean by "can't open the editor"? Do you get an error message? What happens when you select the "Launch Editor" menu item?

Does the problem still happen if you quit and restart Hero Lab?

Try loading another game system - can you open the editor in that game?

Nothing happens when I choose Launch Editor.
Same when I restart.
This happens under Pathfinder and under M&M3.
I originally was able to do so, but after fooling around with my own .user files, it stopped opening. I'm not sure what caused the malfunction...

Main Screen lockups?

Anyone else getting (relatively random) main screen lockups?

From time to time, (can't seem to duplicate it with anything in particular) clicking anywhere in the open HL screen doesn't work. You can load new files from the menu, reload the system, load and run the tactical console, and do just about anything else from a menu, but the main screen itself is unresponsive. It is fixed by exiting and restarting HL.

MacBook Air, lastest Lion.

HL on my MacBook is running great! I even used it at the table last week (PFS) to help run my NPC's and everything ran smooth.

Only one issue I've found- I can't seem to get some of the drop down options to work. In Pathfinder Weapon Selection- once I select a weapon it won't 'stay'. I've tried it with a few different characters, none work. Spell Focus's drop down seems to work without an issue though.

Some characters looks funny: in Windows same portfolio looks ok.

1. On the first "jpg", I tested some characters in the name (no problem on Windows with the same name).

2. Some feat descriptions are no perfect: the jpg is about "Brew Fleshcrafting Poison" (see the characters with a "?" in a diamond), same in "Improvised Weapon Mastery" (for character x) or "Country Born" and "Well prepared" (for character “ and ”).

I think I know why I am having trouble with the PFRPG_Curse_of_the_Crimson_Throne_Bestiary.user file. The Windows version has the following on the relevant line:

Code:
<fieldval field="rDescript" value="Its eyes blazing in deathless rage, a phantom floats unfettered by the bonds of the living world. The ghostly horror possesses its own ethereal bonds, though, its semi-transparent, vaguely humanoid figure clenched in the hold of countless crisscrossing chains—writhing and tightening over its vaporous form in unending torture. Several of these chains extend from the ghost’s body, some dangling through the floor or reaching seemingly through the ceiling above, while others pool in spectral lengths"/>

Whereas the mac version has this:

Note the escaped characters in the Mac file: "chains—writhing" instead of "chains—writhing", and "ghost’s body" instead of "ghost’s body".

Eliminating the escaped characters allows the file to be compiled successfully.

I'm cross-posting this here from the Pathfinder forums, as it appears to be Mac-related:

Ha! The web page parsed the files! On my mac, they look like this (without the space after the ampersands):
chains& #151;writhing
ghost& #146;s body

Hello,

I've got two quick (and hopefully easy) questions about the Mac beta.

First, what are the system requirements? I don't recall seeing them, but my apologies if I missed them. I want to make sure my late 2006 vintage iMac can run Hero Lab; based off the Windows requirements, it should be, but better safe than sorry in case there was a big change in specs for the Mac version....

Second, I know the Mac version is in beta for all registered users. I use OS X 10.6 exclusively on my iMac. If I buy Hero Lab today, can I use the license code to participate in the beta? If not, and assuming my iMac can run it, I'll gladly wait until release, then buy it.

Thank you,

Goneril

I can answer the second. If you buy a license now, since its an open beta (assuming it still is), you can join in. (Its what I did).

I dont know about the min OS X version, hopefully someone else has the answer to that.
