Note to MarkP - You might find this helpful with the next LotR update if
you weren't already aware of this "shortcut".
Languages are controlled at three levels: the game system, the card, and
the artwork instance. Here's how to do it.
1. You first need to add all the appropriate language entries to the
definition file. There is a "languages=" attribute in the definition file
that needs the new languages added (e.g. "en+sp+fr").
2. Normally, you would need to add the set of languages to each card as
well. This would be done via the the "languages=" attribute for each card.
However, in the case of LotR, all of the cards are printed the same way in
all of the languages (to the best of my knowledge, but I may be wrong). CV
defaults to having all cards belong to all languages defined for the game,
so you should make sure that there is NO "languages=" attribute on ANY card.
3. Lastly, you need to specify the set of languages for each separate piece
of artwork. This would be done via the "languages=" attribute on each
"artwork" element for each card. However, as with the cards above, CV
defaults to having each piece of artwork appear in every language. So, with
LotR, I think you can achieve your goal by making sure all "languages="
attributes are NOT present for all artwork elements.
If my assumption is correct about all LotR cards being printed in all the
same languages, CV's default behaviors will give you what you want
automatically (that's why we did it that way <G>). So just delete all the
language stuff from all card/artwork elements and add them all to the
definition file. You ought to be good to go at that point.
HOWEVER!! Realize that any changes you make to the files will NOT
necessarily be compatible with any new updates from MarkP. So make sure to
coordinate with Mark and/or plan on having to potentially revise your
inventory data once Mark releases new data files.
Hope this helps,
Rob
