Is realmworks worth the buy right now?

You local data is still safe. That's the important thing. Keep a backup of that data.

I'm not surprised that you're a Beta user. The problems like this that we encounter are usually in the databases of Beta users and often tied to a special case situation we didn't foresee when automatically converting your data through all the various evolutionary stages we've gone through. We'll get things sorted out once we have your database to look at.

I've already submitted my master realm to DavidP and Liz more than once over the past months.

It transpires that because I have the backup working realm on two computers and at some point during its creation and evolution process the two files became unsynced, this then prevents the cloud sync as there are two unique identifiers vying for attention, if I recall correctly.

I can send it along again if thats a necessary step but the data hasn't changed since version 1.09. Unless you count a full delete on the Cloud server.

If you've already sent in your database, there's no need to send it again. I'll follow up on this end to find out what the delay is in getting you back up and running smoothly.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but, if it is a sync error between two computers, couldn't you delete it on the computer with the unique ID that doesn't match the cloud version and then re-sync or download from the cloud again. Wouldn't that take care of a Unique Identifier problem?

I'm assuming there is a way we could see the realms Unique Identifier (with help from the RW Dev Team if necessary).

Already tried this.:(
Nothing has worked so far.
However I am hopeful that eventually it will be rectified.

I purchased RealmWorks and gave it an honest shot. It's a great concept, but there's one fundamental problem with it: unless you have a laptop running Windows to bring with you to your game, you cannot take advantage of many of the features.

I put a bunch of information into my Realm, but I am a Mac user running Parallels to run RealmWorks. I have a PC, but it's also a desktop. Since, at the present time, you can neither export nor print from RealmWoks, you can't access the content on a website, and I don't want to lug a desktop around, it has little use to me.

Yes, RW is helpful for organizing thoughts and content, even if you can't present it directly. But in that case, why not just use something like Obsidian Portal?

I am using RW and am finding it very helpful. I do most development on my notebook that I can carry around while adding information. I sync to my desktop.

On game days, I move the desktop and two large monitors to the game area. On one, I can access all the info I have added, maps, descriptions, treasures, monster statblocks, etc.

On the second monitor I set up the player view.

This allows me to reveal rooms and/or wilderness areas as the players explore. As rooms are explored, I can mark them as done.

I would like print export, but I have found it not to be a deal-breaker.

For combat purposes, I have a large grid mat overlaid with a sheet of plexiglass. It used to be that we'd have to take time to decipher my descriptions of room dimensions and draw it out, now, the players can see the shape of the room as revealed and can draw their own combat map.

All in all, using RW has sped up sessions by approx 50% and it is now very easy to figure out what the players have seen and what they know by seeing what has been revealed. I am looking forwards to the Players' app to allow them to keep informed.
