Note: I am moving this to the cardvault list since there are only 3 people who
actively post on the cv-l5r list, and I would like more feedback.

Okay, you are right. For Jade, I added the Jade bug to all cards that became
Jade legal (older cards that became Jade Legal that is). If you sort for Jade,
you get all the cards we have in the data base that can be used for Jade. If I
could force a filter for jade bug when you select Jade format, I would do so,
but I cannot. I had to do this, because they introduced an idiotic rule whereby
if a personality appeared with a Jade bug, all previous versions of that
personality became Jade legal. However, I do not want to add the newer bugs to
older cards...
My idea (and I should likely add this to the FAQ) is this: Filter out the newer
sets you do not want. That allows the MRP mechanism in CV to do all the rest of
the work for you.
If you want to play Jade, then exclude all the sets with Gold or Diamond cards
-That way you have all the Jade or older sets available, and with "Merge
Duplicates" on CV will show you what cards are Jade bugged (they will be the
latest MRP available to display).
The same applies to Gold. Once a Diamond only set comes out, just exclude that
set and the Gold bugs "rise to the top" and with "Merge" on you will see your
gold bugs.
Since the vast majority of current players do not own anything but Gold cards,
that should work fine.
For Diamond, everything I have seen from AEG tells me that they will never pull
a stunt like Jade again, so Diamond will work like gold. The only question is
the transition period - when Diamond cards are coming out, but Gold is still
played in tournaments. However, if you filter out the Diamond Only sets, and
allow all other sets, you can use Merge Duplicates and you will still get a
total count of cards that are gold legal.
The only real problem is those that validate decks against inventory, and do
not have a lot of older cards.
How far does this MRP stuff go? Should I go back and change the text of every
version of the card if the text changes in the MRP? Do I go back and change the
faction a card belongs to? What if someone wants to go back and play a Jade or
Imperial game? If a personality was Crab in Jade, but became Crane in Gold, am
I supposed to change their faction for the older card? What if they are playing
a Jade game? The faction will not sort correctly because the personality was
changed for MRP. That is why I am designing this to work for the older sets by
filtering out the newer sets, and let the MRP mechanism in CV handle the rest.
> BTW, I don't see Evil Feeds in the SW database...
Correct, SW is not complete for Jade yet.
