D&D 5e Community Pack

Download that and copy the files into your 5e folder within hero lab.

If you don't know where that is, open the editor and click file open. The folder it opens is where all the files need to go.

Races are dead-set easy. For the sake of learning, install the file linked above.

From HL click Tools > Show Editor. Then File > Open Data File.

Open COM_5ePack_VGtM - Races.user

Click the Race tab then the Race tab and just have a look at the races listed. Have you copy of the book next to you and compare the two. You will notice very quickly how it works.

Probably the hardest bit about Races is the Racial Special Abilities. If you click that button you will see it links to other 'things'. You can see those other things by changing to the 'Racial Special' Tab.

Of course there are complex parts of the editor. But just opening the editor and looking at pre-existing things can teach you a hell of alot.

Even if you enter in the skeleton of something and don't put any Eval scripts in. That's still useful to the Community as we can just ask the more experienced users to finish it off and get the coding elements functional.

So I was able to open it but I got this just before it opened:

"Warning! This file is not present in the folder for the active game system. You may view the contents of the file, but not modify it."

Is this normal for stuff that hasn't been released yet or did I do something wrong?

Sounds like you opened the file from the wrong location. It needs to be in your 5e folder. From the editor if you click file open that's the folder.

So i noticed the pepperbox and bad news for the gunslinger are checking strength instead of dex for damage and such. is there any fix for this?

Log into github as noted in @Daplunk's signature and either post a bug or if you have the time, edit the file yourself. Either way, the community benefits.

Sure, if you upload the personal edit to GutHub.

Of the exact same file name? I put all my edits into my own Homebrew file that I share with my group. Partly because I have house rules I want to implement but also because when I update the Community Pack, it gets overwritten so there's no point in editing it.

When people give us files we usually have to make changes to ensure the file meets naming standards.

We will do things like...
Strip out any unnecessary things. EG, if someone gives us a class that contains their own homebrew as well, we strip out the homebrew).
Change the name of the file per our convention (COM_5ePack_<SRC> - <DESC>.user).
Change the name of all things per our convention (5C).
Check to ensure copy-right material is not included and paraphrased where necessary.
Ensure sources are set.
Change the sources per our convention (5e<SRC>CP).

Of course there just as much work involved in preparing a users file for release as there is in making a new file from the ground up, so for this reason I encourage anyone who wants to assist in making the Community Pack better, to reach out and join us.

I'm personally finding my available time is stretched of late and as such always looking for active participants to assist with maintaining and improving the pack.

I have a question? I've noticed that all of the magic items like weapons and armor are not listed in any of the updates that are found in the Dunglen Master Guide. Also is there an option to create custom magic items and place them on any player? I do not have that ability.

The PC races are already done and ready to be rolled out with the next update.

At this stage we are not looking at the monsters. With the RW content market just around the corner I'm holding back on new content until we know what that looks like. We also have alot of open fault tickets so focus is cleaning up the outstanding issues over pushing out new content.

You can grab it now. Just go to github in my signature and from the files section, download the stiff and add it to your hero lab 5e folder

If I remember correctly, it should be on the Bard tab at 3rd level.

For some reason this reply went to the wrong place. Ignore.

I grabbed these this afternoon and think there's a bug in the Yuan-Ti section - it looks very much like the Orc but with different stat bonuses - even has Orc as a bonus language.
I don't have my Volo's guide yet (probably wont' until Christmas due to the yearly Ban on Buying Anything), so I could very well be wrong, but something looked off to me :)
