Cost of a Spellbook

So if I understand how the new file works, I need to have two versions of the custom spellbook in the gear section, yes? One to calculate value of the book and the other to calculate weight. Is that correct?
You don't have have to use the two. The new "Spellbook(s)" also calc the cost and pages. Its just listed in the Desc instead of the name.

So really its allowing options. The "Spellbook" one you add and it tells you your info and you buy/add spellbooks manually to account for your spells. This way you can have different combos of spellbooks like some travel and some normal.

The new "Spellbook(s)" assume all your going to have are the same type of books. So it calcs its weight value based on the number of books you need.

So its really giving you some choices or options.

Hi Shadow,

More ideas for the spellbook as I'm looking at it right now.

Spellbook
- drop number of pages
- Add name (so we can give it a unique name)
- use base spellbook weight

Spellbooks
- for the Books part, change to Book(s)
- Add number of pages
- drop weight

Travelling Spellbooks,
- for the Books part, change to Book(s)
- Add number of pages
- drop weight

What do you think?

I didn't think I needed something like this but now that I've downloaded it I was wrong. I really like it.

I did notice that it doesn't take into account the feat Cypher Script from the Inner Sea book. The feat reduces the cost and page count by half (round up).

This all assumes 1 copy of the spell per set of spell books. Which from my perspective is a lot better than trying to manage which book has what spells...

That has always been a excel spreadsheet in my games, and a pain to manage if doing NPC's.

I can set it up to require a name but I don't agree with the other changes. The pages tell you how many "Real" spellbooks you need to add.

Can change the Books Name but he cost and pages are their already. On this one I added them as part of the "Desc" section. Just just click on the "?" field to see that info. It will now print out to a character sheet also. Forgot a check mark. Oops.

I spent allot of time on the weight thing so not sure I want to drop it now. :)

See Above. Overall nice suggestions but want to leave it as "Generic" as I can so it helps out lots of people.

Okay, my next though was to make the multiple version as a container so I can add the single item to it and make up the set that way..

I might have a tinker when I get time and show you what I meant by it.

Okay follow up on that, what happens when you have the single spellbook with pages listed and you exceed the number of pages in the book?

Which was why I was thinking a plural object that you just attached the single items... anyway will work on it when I get time.

I fixed the weight bug for these spellbooks finally. Yea! So now if you drop the spellbook to the ground or put in a bag of holding the weight comes off the hero. Finally able to do this from changes put in for UE.

I also removed all the files attached to this thread so that their is one place to download and that is HERE.

This functionality has been incredibly useful (and appreciated), but I want to make sure that I understand the math that it is taking care of for me:

The 'Cost' shown when using the "Spellbooks" option (for example) is the cost of creating such a spellbook, correct? That is to say, the cost of buying the necessary book(s) and scribing the spells inside.

If someone were to sell spellbooks(s) calculated from this option, the sale price would be half of that figure, correct?
