Community Dungeon Project

Alright team,

We have a clear leader in the story vote and that winner is:
A barbarian village has always protected the world from the evil of the cave, but now the cave stirs!

Given this option is quite open I think its suitable to start another poll. This is harder than it might sound as we need to consider the types of dungeons that might be submitted by the players. I think the one thing that the evil source must be is intelligent. This will open up more options in regards to the types of challenges the party face.

The dungeon I'm designing certainly would not work in a Goblins cave o.0

Please complete the survey: What is the source of the great evil?

I've gone and purchased Character Editor 3 for CC3+. So that means I can create some pictures for the NPCs and load all that in also. Should help flesh this thing out.

What this means though. For anyone creating NPCs, I need the following:

Race, Sex, Hair, Facial Hair, Type of armor worn, type of weapons carried.

Examples of output:
Female Dwarf Paladin - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_6BXlzLTlj8VEhJRC10U2U0bWM/view?usp=sharing

Male Half-Orc Fighter - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_6BXlzLTlj8ZVo1UENreHl6Q00/view?usp=sharing

The village looks good.

But I was hoping we could have had an inn or a big communal feast/guest hall. Plus you'll want a forge area so players can buy equipment from the smith and from others. As they are going to be going into the caves and out of them it seems frequently if it is a big dungeon. Also, it is a bit small with just the structures on the map right now.

Also, I can knock out some art for people to use using various programs. I have. Attached are some old images I did and anyone can use them if they want to. Just give some info on what you want and I'll see if I can do it with the resources I have.

Any one can use them if they want to just make sure to credit me if you do for the image.

If we are going to just do CC3+ Character Artist art I can help with that as well.

Finally a few months back on the ProFantasy forums a very good discussion on names went on that I recommend everyone looking at. A very useful
book also got recommended in that discussion too. ;)

Oh snap we have an artist in the house :)

The only reason I use CA3 is because I have zero artistic ability. We do need to make sure you have commercial rights to the images / art you produce. If you want to throw up some NPC pictures that would be amazing. Perhaps start with the Barbarian Chief? Personally I'm picturing him as old, mature, wise enough to not allow his young barbarians to run into the dungeon (aka no npc help for the party) but intelligent enough to understand that they need to stay and ensure the occupants of the cave don't leave the cave.

The map is absolutely too small lol, honestly I just replicated the symbol from the overland map as close as possible.

Can you give me a complete list of what you want added? Alternatively feel free to provide a sketch!

I was considering adding in a cave system behind the face of the village? It's quite normal for areas with caves to contain more than one cave. Perhaps that could contain more living spaces, the blacksmith, a central communal space?

REMINDER FOR ALL: Please complete the survey: What is the source of the great evil?

Ok, I like the Village, daplunk, but I am sort of with Jay_NOLA; I think it needs...more? A smithy, a common hall, a kennel, a stable, maybe some sort of "inn" or the like where the characters can rest.

Also, what is the scale on the map, I can't tell, but it seems about 1 foot squares, no? that doesn't seem unreasonable, making the big round tent 9' across, and the long tent about 7' x 11'; good for a small barbarian family (father, mother, child and infant), but that only leaves this village big enough for 6 families.

I hope you don't take this as overly critical, I don't mean to be.

Good list. I'll have a crack at it this week if I get the chance. Mate the only reason I did it. And did it in thus way was to get the ball rolling

Ive finished the map for my level and writing the content t currently so hoping to get the first export file shared pretty shortly too.

If anyone else has anything feel free to start a discussion about it.

Map wise we need an inn, a and place to get smithy and place to get equipment, a stable ,and a great hall. If the village also protected the world from the cave you might have some sort of permanent or semi-permanent structures.

That also give people a chance to do interior maps for shops, the inn, etc.

Also before I start doing any art is there a preference for facial or for full body images? I can do both if people want both. The 2 vamp images I did in the previous post show the difference.

My artistic abilities aren't that great.

Will try and get some barbarian characters and village NPC art up in the next few days.
I think I can do a few barbarian characters given the resources I have.

Personally I'm fine with just a face. Unless the body (clothing, or odd features) are key to the character and need to be displayed.

Permanent Structures - I like this idea, some sort of defensive position against the mouth of the cave.

The rest is also easily done also.

Just wanted to say that this is an amazing project! I'm certainly going to download it from the content market and put it somewhre in my campaign.

Unfortunately I lack the time to contribute something major, but if there are small things needed, like a NPC or a treasure or a room's contents or something like that, I might be able to help a little.

I did this NPC image last night. The image was scaled down a bit to make it manageable. I can upload a larger version. My original is over 200 MB in size.

So who is this guy? Is he the village chief, a blacksmith, crafty merchant, a tavern drunk, the inn keeper, or some one else?

Anyone can use the image that want to work out who he is?

If the image isn't usable for some reason let me know.
