Community Created 3.5 D&D data set....

Hey guys, been reading through all the many updates you've added, and was wondering about the below?

The ability to add "extra" damage to like flaming, frost, etc. is getting closer to the top of the to-do list. So "soon".... :)

I'm not nagging by any means, just wondering where it's up to.

Thanks again for all the work you put into this :)

First, I want to say I love the work you guys have put in on this; it's made character generation and maintenance so much easier for my wife and I in the few games we've played since buying it. If I could be so bold as to make a couple of requests, though:

- Is there any chance for the Savage Tide campaign info to be ported over? I'm using a slightly modified version of the Pathfinder set to get the feats in, but it's obviously not a perfect solution.
- Tome of Battle seems incomplete, with a number of prestige classes, items, and a few other things missing. Are there any plans to finish this?

Again, thanks to ShadowChemosh, Lawful_g, and all the others who have worked on this. It's awesome, and you're awesome.

I just finished Rokugan Campaign Setting, so I'll take a look once it's good to go. I intended to finish it up but got sidetracked.

Hey, Sendric, finishing ToB is my next project.

We really can't do much with Favored Enemy as it's buried too deeply in the code for us to manipulate. .................
As for variant classes, just select it from optional rules when customizing which books you are using. Making a variant is cleaner than making an entirely new class.

I ran into this when making a variant class called the Knights of Luna for my campaign (World of Greyhawk).

I ended up as a workaround making a feat out of it. It shows up in the variant as a "bonus feat" and under the special abilities and in play tabs.
Down side is doesn't show up in the favored enemies window of the class tab and you have to have additional feats created that will also account for progression in later levels. You will also have to adjust the nuber of feats the character can have to account for the ability, but that's easier than digging thru HML for the Favored enemy ( I never could get it to fully work. I could add enemies, but would not let me select what was displayed)

This is a core feature that is planned for the future. I don't know what the timetable is, but it's not something that can be added through the community set. Shadow would know more.

Based on how people react to RW timelines or dates my answer will always be one of two answers. "Soon" or "See Release Notes". Meaning its either coming or its done. :)

Though thinking maybe I should just go with "when its done" as that covers everything nicely. :p

Back to appointing bugs. Some stuff that uses Taint isn't working. The feat "Tainted Fury" repeat itself on the requisites with both Corruption and Taint, but nothing that I did was actually recognized as Taint for this one, neither OA nor HoH Taint.

By the way, maybe the HoH stages of Taint could be turned into Traits?

OA Taint is an adjustment, if that helps. Is Tainted Fury a Maho-Bujin ability? If so, I could never get it to work properly. I brought it up to Sendric when I sent him the file.

Tainted Fury is a HoH feat, it should work with Corruption/Depravity. Both are also adjustments.

Well, the feat presented both Taint and Corruption as pre-reqs. I added both Corruption and Depravity to the profile in question, and it considered the Corruption req as done, but the Taint req remained.

I also tried to add OA Taint through the adjustments, but it didn't solved.

I'll have to take a look at this. These items were added separately without consideration for each other. I'll dig into it and see what the issue it.

Could you provide the portfolio so that I don't have to rebuild it from scratch?

The Genasi races are with wrong modifiers in the description. I didn't used, though, so I don't know how they are actually working.

I'll look for the portfolio, I send by PM? I don't know how to do it.

Ah, I see. HoH taint and OA taint are two separate things. HoH taint is a combination of Corruption and Depravity. OA is an adjustment that applies a penalty to Wis and Con, just like in Unearthed Arcana.

Precisely, but more.

HoH taint is officially an update on the OA rules for Taint, so strictly speaking those rules should be interchangeable to a degree. At least the higher level between Corruption and Depravity should equal to the same level of Taint under OA rules, in the case of the DM using HoH rules for Taint on the Rokugan setting (like I'm doing).

Either way, the problem with Tainted Fury goes beyond that. It is a HoH feat, and should be validated by a score in Corruption. But it is also asking for a level of "taint" that isn't actually either Corruption, Depravity, or OA Taint.

The following attachment is a portfolio with this problem going on, just ignore the metamagic feat that is also missing requisites, it is for a specific thing going on in the story.

Actually the update for OA taint is in Unearthed Arcana. They run almost exactly the same. The Tainted Warrior and Tainted Sorcerer prestige classes are direct ports of Maho-Bujin and Maho-Tsukai. The HoH taint (corruption and depravity) is an entirely separate system with a similar theme.

HoH does have its own Taint mechanic, but I've never needed to use it. There is, however, a separate Taint special from HoH that is entirely unrelated to the OA and UA Taint.

UA's Taint System is just the same from OA, with added tables for the fluff already spoken about in OA's text. It doesn't even cite OA, and is meant to present Taint rules for other D&D games as per the goals of UA.

By the box of text in HoH, page 66, though, HoH Taint is the actual update on those rules. It not only says so, and then go forth to describe how to apply those new rules to Rokugan Campaing Setting. It is effectively closer to the effects of the Shadowlands' Taint from the Legend of Five Rings system. Specially the more recent rules from that RPG.

A point could be make about the division between Corruption and Depravity not being native to Rokugan, but they still work more similar to how Taint affects the characters. Physical effects are usually first and foremost, though mental ones develop with stronger Taint. Some characters, specially the Tainted Prestige Classes, but not only them, go reverse, though, avoiding physical effects while getting ever more mental ones. The Taint can cause problems to the characters by giving them symptoms, but nothing similar to constant ability damage in such a degree as the OA rules. It is also harder to cleanse, almost impossible once settled. All of those are L5R characteristics of Taint.

The feat isn't working, though, one way or another.

Yes. I removed later to avoid the "ability drain" effect, but I did it.

Ok, well, that is why the pre-req is failing. By checking the Tainted condition, it applies the correct tag to the hero, which results in the pre-req being satisfied.

What is the ability drain effect you are avoiding?
