Any recent updates on the progress of Content Market

No need to catch breath. either they have a date or they dont. Nothing more necessary in the post.

1. This isn't the only thing they'll have to respond to when they get back.
2. The ball is in Paizo's court to fix this, so they have to have a response from Paizo.
3. Paizo is also likely focused on GenCon right now.
4. This won't be the only thing on Paizo's list when they get back.
5. With her new role, BJ has promised to be more accessible and responsive, and she has been.

So, just give it a few days. After this long, that's not a lot to ask.

BJ responded to a similar question on FB (insert OMG Facebook rage here) and noted that Realm works will be getting an update in 2018 with more information to be communicate post GenCon.

RW will get an update this year. I’ll be posting info on that once I’m back from GC.

Wow one update this year. I am sooo impressed. *yawn*

I have seen this too often now and nothing actually happened. Nothing to see here please move on.

Where? The official ReamWorks facebook page hasn't been updated since 2017.

The HeroLab page just has a couple of recent posts from GenCon and most of the comments are people saying things like:

"Kinda sad that you feel like it's more important to add more products to a platform that can't stay afloat. Really wished you guys would have made HLO "feature complete" to justify a sub and always online feature first. Whatever, I'll wait for the other online features to come before I invest any money in."

"So, we have to pay for additional books AND pay a subscription to access the books we purchase? "

"I can't justify this as anything other than a cash grab. I love having Hero Lab locally. Having to pay for a subscription just to keep what you have purchased seems crazy."

"Can you make HLO more reliable before you add more games?"

" I love hero lab but if they think that i buying another software package that they may support, not going to happen. So where is realmworks patches?"

Looks to me like the existing user base isn't too happy, but they're pushing ahead with new online features rather than fixing up the existing product. Sound familiar?

I hate to say this but I've seen this before LWD has the strong appearance of a company whose business model isn't working. Rather than completing projects and supporting existing projects they are chasing new customers and income streams only to leave them feature incomplete in the ever spiraling search for new income.

Take this PF2 playtest add on to HLO. The playtest will likely only really be active till December when Paizo stops accepting feedback and providing modules and other support. Then there will a 7 month wait for the real PF2 which will be different from the playtest in hopefully many ways, the playtest is teribad IMO, no really 4e bad. Who will really sign up and pay a sub just to get 5 months of access to HLO?

I suspect these people are the same disgruntled forum users Whining where ever they can. Hopefully they delete these posts from FB. The negativity of a couple people can harm the company on FB.

Oh, I think there's things other than users expressing displeasure that are causing problems for the company.

Censoring negative reviews would be a horrible step, improving the products regularly and doing things to keep your customers happy is always better.

People that defend LW and its products always say that the "negative minority" flood the forums, FB and elsewhere and ruin it for everyone. You ever take a moment to think that if the company was doing everything right the positive reviews would flood the negative. Maybe the "LW is perfect" crowd is actually the minority on this?

I love HLC for character management - it has the best leveling and validity checks - I recommend it regularly. I can't do the same for HLO, especially since it only support 2 systems and one of those isn't even a finalized product. I like RW for what it promised to be, but what it is now I can't put a great spin on it anymore. Both HLC and RW need some UI updating to get them to the current expected polish that other competing products are at.

For a guy who literally just bought into HL& RW within the last day, some aspects of this conversation are rather alarming. Despite a segment of the community seemingly disgruntled with sluggish developmentmental progress (I gather), is the company on solid enough footing that I don't have to worry about the servers going under anytime soon? I'm really stoked about what I've seen of the tools so far, seen through the eyes of a total rookie. Looking forward to contributing to the community.

Those are just product pages. Most of the conversation and community can be found in HERE.

BJ is a member of the group which means when we talk about her she gets tagged and therefore notified and that tends to draw a response ;)

It's not formal communication though. Just a one liner in response to a question.

I also don't buy into the heaped negativity that HLO get's. I would wager we see a rather small % of the user base here in the forums and the FB groups. There would be significant chunks of people using their tools who do not participate in the community at all. So at this point the only people who really understand the current situation is LWD who have access to their sales data. HLO is a subscription model now so they will clearly be able to see people voting with their wallets.

The trends in the market however show they are clearly heading in a more profitable direction. D&DBeyond is seeing so much success that they have been able to hire someone to write a comic book. That in itself is telling that people are willing to pay for subscription services.

As someone who spent my active work life as a programmer/developer, the idea of spending money on a comic book instead of adding more programming staff strikes me as just WRONG!!! :p

I have seen worse... :)
Decisions of business people who lack understanding of the problem they need to decide upon don't surprise me anymore.

This. Any software developer doing this in such a niche product is either wildly overcharging for the product or is badly misusing their available funds. If they're overcharging a competitor will soon find some way to compete exclusive license or not.

See I think this is genius. This is marketing at its finest. They already have Twitch bringing in new customers. Keeping in mind that kids these days don't watch tv, they watch YouTube and Twitch. Online comic strips are also hugely popular and attract a dedicated following. These are all forms of fishing lures that brings in new customers.

D&D 5e isn't the highest selling version of D&D just because they made new books.

I love D&DB and have been a subscriber a the the highest tier for about a year. I don;t play exclusive D&D either. So yes, I am very willing to pay for subscription. However, RW has not earned my money at all. While RW offers function that DD&B does not they have also destroyed any trust I have in them. D&DB has consistently communicated with users via youtube live cast videos and posts on the site, and then delivered on the promises made in a reasonable time frame. The product is polished and web based from the start. If RW was communicating with us regularly, putting out updates regularly, delivery new features as promised, and finally squashing the multitude of bugs I would may a reasonable subscription fee with no qualms.

I'm assuming it's the game developer (WotC) releasing the comic book, and not LWD.

Not censoring. FB is a marketing tool. Would you call it censorship if someone wrote a "review" on a bill board and the bill board ad was replaced?

If the reviewer was still paid up for the ad, yes.

EDIT: Wait, you mean if someone vandalized the billboard? No, because that's vandalism. Billboard ads are not forums.

Posting a comment on a FB page is not vandalism. That's part of Facebook's inherent design and purpose.
