Adding ranged attack to a sword

I'm trying to duplicate the Nightblade of Arvandor from the Exalted Deeds book. It's a +2 Longsword that can also shoot a star of energy as a ranged touch attack for 1d8 force damage.

The problem I keep running into is if I bootstrap with wLongSword and try adding another of some ranged weapon only the ranged stat block shows with the sword description.

I tried making a power but anything with a ranged component has the same effect.

I tried using a dagger since that has both melee and ranged values but when I do that it sets the weapon damage to 1d4 plus the STR mod.

The effect I want is the description to show as:

Nightblade of Arvandor +2 1d8+2(this would be 2+STR) or 1d8 force

melee xx/xx
ranged xx/xx

Since the other ability doesn't add any strength bonus, I'd make a new ranged weapon with the Helper.Helper tag (so it's not selectable for weapon focus and whatnot) and Fixed damage text, and just bootstrap it to the Nightblade weapon.

what I wound up doing is to use bodrin's suggestion which got me both stat blocks then made a custom power for the star using Icy Burst as a template and edited the Eval Script to make it say what I wanted.

Is there a way to reorder weapons or do you have to remove them and add them in the order you want them in?

Very Cool! Thx!

This is very ironic, I became tired of being a professional developer because of all the new technologies around these days it's impossible to master any of them before they go out of style or you find an employer who wants to use the "next thing on the bleeding edge" that you don't know. Now I find Hero Lab and it's just as arcane as any API I've used in the last 20 years.

You mean the order of weapons on the character? I assume so and if so one of my adjustments in my adjustments addon is able to do this.

Well, being a total newbie with HL I don't seem to be able to get your adjustment set to work. I have it checked on the character config but I dont see any difference in the weapon section and I have not been able to locate the instructions you mention on how it works.
