Adding a discovery

Hi folks,

First off, I just bought Hero Lab yesterday so I'm a total noob.
I'd like to add a custom discovery, I'm a lvl 14 alchemist and I have the ranged baptism discovery from one of the player companions.

I don't want to buy the companion addon if I can add the discovery manually.

Question, how do I do that?

I know where to find the editor and I know how to add a certain skill or class etc, but discoveries doesn't seem to be an option, is there a workaround to let them show up in the discovery list?

Help is much appreciated!

Alchemist Discovery's, Rogue Talents, Rage Powers, etc are all the same Thing from the point of view of HL. So they each don't get their own special tab. These are all found under Class->Custom Ability tab in the Editor.

I would recommend doing a "New Copy" versus a existing Discovery. You won't be able to keep this new copy but it will allow you to see the settings you need to do to make it show for the Alchemy class.

Because you say your new I am going to point out THIS thread filled with FAQs. The first post is a "Glossary of Terms" for more advanced areas of HL. The 2nd question on THIS FAQ is really good for showing all the places to learn about the editor. It even has a Four Part YouTube video intro to the editor and scripting.

I figured it out, just like you said I copied 1 of the alchemist discoveries in the editor to see what its values were etc.

In the same window I made my own discovery, looking off and tweaking off from what I learned from the already existing file.

After that I saved the file and compiled the data and Hero Lab said it was ready for use in Hero Lab, and there it was in the discovery list!

Thanks for your help, it's actually not hard at all, just need to know where to find your knowledge.
