Greetings all,
Is it possible to set a default spell book in HL such that, when a new portfolio is created or a new creature is created that has a spell book, those default spells are already in there? It's a pain statting up a wizard from scratch and having to add a ton of spells to their spell book every time. At least with a default set of spells we could customize with necessary tweaks. Thanks in advance! |

Also can we have the spellbook as a object as a wizard can have more than one spellbook, and that it can contain either 50, 100 or 1,000 pages of spells depending on the book.
They usually have backup spellbooks as well. Currrently my groups have to manage spellbooks outside of hero lab as the program does not cater to the full rules on them. And the ability to cast any spell from your spellbook refers to single not plural so optionally for following RAW is it possible to have a specific spellbook with spells as an object that can be selected as the source of spells of the bonded object? btw if it is an object with the spells associated to it then we can create our own default spellbooks and copy them to new characters. Also DC to learn spells from someone else's spellbook we have obtained would also be good... Wizards have missed out on some love with a generic spellbook. And further to this, being able to use this concept with other spellcasting classes would also be cool, such as a prayer book for cleric's which can represent expanded spells available to them beyond the core rules. This would help in a world where ever divine caster does not automatically know every spell in existence. A easy option would be a make a Gear/Adjustment that when added bootstrapped all the default Spells you wanted. Then those spells would get added to the wizard.
Attached to this post is an example Gear item that adds Burning Hands to a wizards spellbook when you add "Spellbook with Spells". The only bug right now is that if you still don't add at least "one" spell to the spellbook manually it won't let you memorize.... ShadowChemosh,
Thanks for the Gear item! I'll see about editing it and adding in the additional 'default' spells I'd like any wizards to have. As always, your efforts are really appreciated! |

Just wanted to point out that you could make this an Adjustment under other adjustments, as well. In case you don't want to show it in your Gear tab.
