Customizing animal companion

I've submitted a bug about Verminous Hunter companions having no Int and retaining the Mindless trait.

While waiting for this to be fixed, I'd like to customize giant scorpion or vermin companions to remove the NoScore tag for its Int, but I'm having trouble with it. (I tried to make an adjustment, but the NoScore tag for the Int is apparently overriding any overrides.)

I found this idea for creating an archetype to allow a customized Paladin, and I figured I'd create something like that and select it for my vermin companion.

What I'm not sure how to do is create a feature that supersedes an existing feature. In this case, it would be superseding a tag on an animal companion class. Or maybe there's some other way to do this.

Edit: I found a way to restore the Int score using the Ability Score (Restore) adjustment. I'd still like to know how to customize a workaround, though.

For something like this, the adjustment route is still probably the most versatile. If you want the adjustment to do more than the Ability Score (Restore) adjustment does, you can create a copy of that adjustment, call it 'Vermin Companion Adjustment' or some such, and add whatever else you need changed to it as well. That way, it is a single adjustment, added to the permanent adjustments section on the Personal tab.

I'm not familiar with the Verminous Hunter, so can't give guidance directly on it.

So reading over the archetype what makes you think the Vermin you get as an AC are not mindless? Especially as the first level ability says "The hunter tactics class ability allows a verminous hunter to grant her teamwork feats to a mindless vermin companion." That to me goes with the vermin is is mindless and should have a Int score of 0.

This information is from the Animal Archive player companion. On pp. 11 it states that the "process of making a vermin into a familiar grants it an Intelligence score and removes the mindless trait".

Edit: I see now that's for familiars and not companions. So the vermin should still have the 0 Int.
