If you want a fast way to modify gold on hand, buy a 1GP item, and then sell it for whatever gold amount you want by manually entering that amount (+1 for the original gold). This will update the cash on hand and total equipment value fields, still tracking the change.

It's a LOT simpler to just create a new journal entry, tho.
I guess I will put in a feature request then. In this case I am the GM I don't need or want a paper trail in my character character sheets. All I want to do is easily edit the amount of gp in the PCs pocket. We don't track item costs and transfers the way HL seems to want to force me to.

We don't want to use the journal at all really.

The best thing I've found so far is to check the box that "buys for free" and
then use the main hero config screen to set "starting" money to however much is in their pocket. This is really clunky way to do this but it works. Partly because the "buy for free button doesn't stay checked for a character you have to check it every time you load a PC.

Thanx,

Kizan

Both of these methods require a few more clicks, but they accomplish what you're looking for without too much trouble.

I hope these help!
They helped me just what i needed ability to go back to starting cash after a class is chosen.

This is in the wrong place tho..should appear as a die roll after 1st level is picked with the ability to overwrite then

I have a problem with the starting cash work around. I created an 8th level character and gave him 1,369 PP, zero the gold and 5 SP.

Now it gives me an error saying that I have -13,671 GP and I cannot have negative amount of gold pieces. When I hover on it it says 1,369 PP, -20 GP, 5 SP.

Clearly there is a bug if you zero out the GP in starting cash.

Yeah I haven't had the best of time getting the program to make change out of PP. Basically using the journal tab under your pp gp sp cp entry boxs you can easily do the changes yourself by using the -value on the PP and then adding that into the boxes you wish to distribute the money around to. No plus sign is needed obviously to add in values, but if you use the - sign in front of those values it will subtract from those currency values.
Sure I can see your point not wanting to use a journal but the only reason I can think of the wealth boxes being there is it would make sense in the form of "bookkeeping" your funds. Yeah I admit though it was a bit of a trick when I first started learning it myself.

i don't see what the problem is with just implementing boxes that you can put straight cash into. Journal is really clunky. How about just a "purse" with PP, GP, SP and CP on it?

ShadowChemosh has expressed interest in implementing the coin types in the Community Basic Pack, so you can have GP, CP, SP, and PP as items to manipulate in the inventory.

I have no idea how close that is to release, though.

Getting currency in a state where different piles of coins can be used to pay for this or that, and even just renaming existing coin types, much less defining new ones with relative values linked to a standard has been something I was asking for when I was just a user. Believe me when I say that this project is complicated.

I have it all incorporated into the Basic Pack. Should provide a bit of a stop-gap measure because as Aaron said "cost" is not easy.

Some of my crazy work stuff should slow down now that we are past Valentines day. I am "hoping" this weekend get the Packs out.

Nice.

The stuff Aaron is describing seems like over-kill in some ways, but never let it be said I turned down a cool-if-complicated simulation when I could have it

Actually, something like that was requested in the RealmWorks forums. I really think that's the wrong place for something like that, and HeroLab is more appropriate.
