So, I updated to 4.15 Pathfinder today as I opened my computer to load my character for tonight's game. Once that went through, I loaded the portfolio my character was in, only to get a bunch of errors about missing information. It appears that the Spell Compendium data source I had pulled in (as well as the user file I had been adding Spell Adjustments in) was no longer visible in the Configure Hero selections, and the spells contained within were being flagged as missing.
I've done everything I can think of (which basically amounts to opening the datafile and recompiling, and searching through the xml file to see if there was a reference to the original dataset version number) to fix this to no avail. Is this something known that I just can't figure out, or is this possibly a bug? Game starts in about two hours, so hopefully this is a quick answer. I appreciate your help. EDIT: Thought of something else, and it solved the problem. When I first updated, I had some duplicate data in my Spell Adjustments section. I had renamed them, but the load apparently didn't work properly. So when I actually restarted Hero Lab, all worked again. Figures that I wouldn't have thought of that right away. When you loaded up HL you probably got some Duplicate Thing error messages. As soon as HL finds errors during the inital load of .user files it goes into safe mode. This means the .user files are not loaded at that point.
As you saw the fix is to find and remove the duplicate thing error and then do a restart of HL. This will cause it to not go into safe mode and load up all the .user files again. Some people think that HL actually loses the .user files as their sources no longer show in the Configure Your Hero window. This is not the case it just does not load them into memory. As many things are being added lately I would recommend that those doing their own custom work to add some type of initial or value to all your Unique IDs so you don't run into official ones. For example I use S2. So for the bless Spell I would make it pS2Bless. This way when HL adds in Bless their version would be pBless and it won't run into Duplicate Thing errors during the initial load. Hope that helps.
