I am in a campaign that is using some Kolbold quarterly content and Pathfinder, The GM likes to play gestalt and make nasties for us to fight.
I know the gestalt thing probably has been beaten to death, but can a patient, Hero lab savvy person or persons walk me through it. I apologize in advance for any groans and mutters this post elicits. Also out of curiosity, Hero Lab has been awesome to have, will they release a gestalt option in the future? Thank you! |

There are a couple of ways to go about making Gestalt character classes in HL. The best way I've found so far is to make them as archetypes of existing classes.
Make a new archetype of one of the classes in your gestalt, then add all of the abilities of the second class to it. Note that HL doesn't support classes that have spells from two different sources - so no Gestalt Cleric/Wizards, Sorcerer/Bards, etc. I don't think there is any way around this. In my Gestalt game, I have a Cleric/Ranger and a Sorcerer/Paladin. Both of the players graciously agreed to take spell-less archetypes of their secondary casting classes. So for example, for the Cleric/Ranger I made a new Cleric Archetype, gave it a unique ID and name, and added all of the class abilities for the Ranger (Skirmisher) class to it. It's a little clunky and there are some drawbacks other than limiting the spellcasting. For example, if the player wants to Gestalt different classes at a later level, it means making yet another archetype with the benefits for his new level. (I house ruled that any Gestalt levels would be in the original archetype only - if my players want to add levels in another class that's fine, but they will be only in one class rather than Gestalt levels). Also, in many cases new versions of the class abilities will have to be made in order to get the Primary, Secondary, Tertiary and Quaternary labels all straight. It becomes pretty time consuming, but is well worth it (IMO) for the greater ease of tracking a party with all of the flexibility Gestalt characters provide. |

Just an FYI that I have the arquebusier class already done and is available from the d20pfsrd link in my signature. That should hopefully give you a bit of a head start.
