Hi all
Skill in Balance at 2. I am a rogue, Dex at 17 (+3) i don the Studded Leather Armor (-1 to Armor Check Penalty) and would expect my skill now in Balance to be (2+3-1) = +4, but it is still only +2. The same for all other Dex based skills... I've looked through the forum and can's seem to find an answer... Am i calculating this wrong or is there some other thing I'm overlooking? When I untick the armor, the skills do not change either.. only when I delete the armor does the +3 Dex bonus kick in. I tried in the Pathfinder system and it seems to calculate properly... is there a d20 system rule I'm overlooking? Cheers Rimfaxe |

Works fine for me. I created a rogue with exactly those things. you must have some other stuff affecting.
Im thinking, you have an encumbrance of medium. Because when i made my encumbrance medium, i got the same as you. |

Encumbrance makes sense here, especially where you stated the changes didn't occur until you deleted the armor from the character. One thing that gets often over-looked for encumbrance purposes is money. Those coins get heavy pretty fast.

Yeah, we routinely still get someone reporting max dex issues that turn out to be encumberance.

One of the things I love about the pathfinder program that I wish the D20 one does is the ability to click on a skill and it shows all the calculations. With d20 i still findmyself wondering "wait... why is this that?" And sometimes, its easy to figure out (like this encumberance example) but other times not so much, so its hard to know if something is actually a bug, or something else.
