Hi everyone,
I've been looking for a way to add notes (or more specifically notation numbers) to a character's gear and items. Most of the treasure that my players get is unique in some fashion (e.g., an extended description, unknown qualities, historical significance, etc), so I maintain a separate spreadsheet that summarizes the additional qualities of the items. For example, on my homebrew character sheets, someone might have a weapon listed as "Longsword +2 (notation 321)." On the separate spreadsheet, under notation 321, I will have additional info such as "elven runes down the side of the blade spell out the name Oakheart." Is there any way to add notes to items or edit existing item names without just creating a brand new custom item? I see that right-clicking on gear provides a grayed out option for "Edit name of..." Is there a way to enable that function? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide! |

I think with any change you would need to either create a new item or modify the exiting one in the editor.
You could provide note in the journal for something specific though. Hmm. That's pretty much what I expected, but I was hoping someone had an elegant solution.
Any idea what the "change name" option does and why it's grayed out? |

Actually when do a Custom Magic Weapon you can enter a "Custom Item Name:". This then appears as the name of the weapon. So in your example you can enter Longsword +2 (notation 321) and that is what will get displayed on the character sheet.
Attached to this post is a screen shot. I also use this to resort the order of weapons that HL displays so my main weapon is always on the top. All without using the editor at all. Thanks ShadowChemosh!
That will work well for weapons, armor and gear; I'll figure out another option for miscellaneous magic items. |
