DMG

Well-known member
Hi,

I was wondering if the WoD preview is available online? RPG stores over in Australia are few & far between... :D

Cheers,
Jim.

The WoD preview is not expected to be available online until the week after Origins, which ends on July 8th. One of the motivations for Free RPG Day is to drive consumers into their local retailers. So materials released through Free RPG Day wouldn't be of much value in that regard if no one really needed to go to the stores and could just grab the material online. On the flip side, publishers want consumers to see the materials via any means necessary. So we're delaying the general online release for a couple of weeks to strive for a balance between the two goals.

And the purpose of this preview is?

I'm very curious to see what the length of time will e between the preview and the full release, and how much of the process is going to be lie that of a public beta ("This doesn't quite work, but if you try this.....).

I'm also curious about, when you see the WW people at Origins and genCon, they would have hear and responded to any suggestion of expanding the license to cover Exalted and Scion.

The purpose is to generate some buzz and interest among WoD players. What
else would it be?

It's definitely NOT a public Beta. The preview went to production in late
May for the Free RPG Day CDs. The release is intended to be at GenCon.
That's about 3 months after the preview. And the content has substantially
evolved since the preview release, with a lot more to go over the upcoming
weeks. If this was intended as a public Beta, we'd be releasing all the
latest changes with the online preview next week. That's not what's
happening, and it was never the plan. The preview is just that - a
preview.

We met with WW earlier today. Support for Exalted and Scion is something
they are quite open to, as has been the case since we asked them awhile
back (prompted by a question here on the forums). However, we first need
to get the WoD stuff released, so let's just take this one step at a time.
:-)
