Which Core Add-On Packages do I need to buy?

Hey what's up I am sort of confused by how vague the descriptions are for the Core Add-On Packages. For instance both the Advanced Player's Guide, and the Advanced Race Guide state they contain alternate racial traits. I am currently trying to play a half orc that replaces Orc Ferocity racial trait with Beastmaster:
Some half-orcs have a spiritual kinship with fantastical beasts, capturing them for sport or living and hunting with them. A half-orc with this trait treats whips and nets as martial weapons and gains a +2 racial bonus on Handle Animal checks. This racial trait replaces orc ferocity.

I got the idea from d20pfsrd.com, I tried to add the racial trait as custom with out base module but can't figure out if it is possible.

This trait is listed in both print books so does that mean I can buy either addon and I will be able to use it?

Also in sticking with the Beastmaster RP element I want to have some sort of wolf, or something as a companion which addon would I need for that?

Yes, purchasing either of the packages an item is from will grant access to that item.

As for gaining an animal companion, it depends on what you are gaining the animal companion from. If it is an archetype which grants it, you'd need the book that archetype was from. If it is a feat, then likewise.

The bottom of the page on d20pfsrd had a copyright 15 notice. That should tell you which "book" a Thing comes from.

Follow up question, how do the addons work, if I buy the addons and add them those stats to a character sheet does the DM also need them to read the sheet?

Yes. The GM can open the sheet but will receive errors if they don't have the packages that are used on your sheet.

It will remove anything they don't don't have, so if you've got a race from the ARG and you're GM doesn't have the ARG it will remove the race from the portfolio.

When your GM opens the portfolio, if that person doesn't have the same data packages they will get errors saying, "[thing id] has been Orphaned due to missing source." For every item from a source that the GM's files do not have. If your GM doesn't have the same data packages you do, a way around it would be to download the pdf plugin and save the character sheets as pdfs. You can do this for the ability and gear appendix files, which should provide the GM enough information to validate a character for you.

Your licenses are linked to your master license. All the packages you buy will be usable by each license. You can also purchase an additional 2 licenses that will be linked.

Last question in order to half a wolf companion, I need to buy Beastry 1 or is that animal contained in any of the other addons?

Oh and thank everyone for being such a big help!!!

I believe wolf is an animal companion defined in the core rulebook, so you wouldn't need to purchase any additional packages for that. You'd still need to be a class that grants an animal companion though, or have something else which enables you to take one.

The wolf race and the wolf animal companion. The first of those has its stats in Bestiary 1, the second in the core rulebook.

How can I add a wolf animal companion to a character? I can't figure out a way to add it? I only see guard dog, donkey ect no way to use a wolf, or make a custom one I can name wolf

Go to the druid tab, ranger tab, or whatever class is granting you the animal companion, and add whatever option gives you an animal companion. Then, a button will appear at the top right of that tab to take you to the animal companion.
