What relationship to choose for lovers, paramours, etc.

Family relationship, union with is not quite right.
Simple Connection to: Personal seems to make sense, with further explanation in the notes. But I think a lover should stand out more than a friend, comrade, etc.

What do you all do?

Sounds like someone hasn't been taking their hormone suppressants! ZAP ZAP ZAP! ;)

But yeah, Personal connection is probably the best one available.

I miss some options here and I don't have any good suggestions.

It would be nice to be able to add custom connections in settings - for some reason that is not possible.

Create a new simple relationship, if you wish. Go into Manage Tags, select "Generic Relationship Types" and add a new tag called "Lovers" or whatever. Save, go back to the topic and add a Simple relationship and select Lovers from the list.

This is an intriguing question. Marriage is a very complicated word. And determination of what it means to be married varies by time, people, place, cultural norms, legal needs, etc. I haven't needed to deal with this situation; or rather, I haven't bothered to assign relationship information to people in this situation.

I would use union for lovers, mistresses, multiple partners, etc. because there is an extremely close relationship that is more like marriage than a simple friendship and which normally implies responsibilities beyond a simple friendship. Ties may be significant financial investment, children, etc.

I would not use union for casual relationships or relationships that do not imply responsibilities or obligations. Paramours may fall in this category but it would be case dependent.

Huh, you know, that's what I get for not scrolling down. Never saw the "System Domains" section. :-)

I created a new Generic Relationship Type called "Romantic"

I guess I see marriage as more contractual and political and for that reason, in my campaign, want to keep the concepts separate. I could see using both lover and union connections for the same characters, but that seems like overkill and, besides, public and private attitudes would be better here. E.g., connection is union, public attitude is positive, private attitude is hatred.

Thanks!

I looked into this some time back and then the options were few. I never looked into it since. It is good that we can add other connections.

Now I just have to be careful and not overdo it...

It would be nice to be able to have more icon options, though.

I absolutely agree!

It would be great if all icons were in one folder and you could add icons to that folder, having them available.

Then someone could zip-pack their folder and send it to me (I am not good at graphics) and I could have some good looking icons (like those we have now, just more of them (honestly, I really do like the present icons)).
