What does your game table look like?

I use a wireless Logitech T650 touch pad...so the players can pass it around and only have to orient the pad to match screen orientation. (in our case the players use the Logitech logo as an orientation reminder for where the "top" of the pad is = Top of TVs in our case)

oooo. thanks for that, that'll definitely help towards my ultimate goal of the TV setup in the table.

That sounds brilliant!
I'm going to have to check it out.

Thanks.

A question for everyone with a built-in monitor or projector in your table:

Do you flip the screen 180 degrees for the players on the other side, or do they use the mouse upside down, or ...?

We just have one player control with a mouse usually. Normally it's for combat only so orientation isn't an issue. We do have a logitech touchpad as well but honestly, it hasn't been used in weeks.

I hate you people (ok, people is the wrong word, Muses is more appropriate). You gave me pictures, which in turn game me ideas, which in turn made me get off my lazy behind and clean out my garage.

I am posting my gaming table, which is in my gaming room (version 2.0).

Again, I want to be clear in my statement: I hate you people :)

Glad to be part of your "inspiration"

Can't tell from the pictures. What material is that tabletop?

This is our game table with Realm Works. I'm still in the process of finishing the scenery around the table.

This is exactly what I do, except for one thing. The TV I use is 46" and I put it directly behind my laptop. This let's me have a bit of privacy (read GM Screen).

I WOULD like to move it to the end, but then I'd need a REALLY long HDMI Cable to go under the table and hook up at the other end. Not to mention an extension cord to run the same length (I have the plug behind me in my dining room).

I LOVE using the TV for display. It's REALLY big and even smaller images look pretty decent at 720p (1600:900) which is large enough for them to read the default text size. At 1080p, I'd have to increase ALL the fonts to about 20 for the players to read everything without straining.

monoprice.com for an HDMI cable. Seriously cheap, and worth it if it lets you come out of hiding.

Interesting thread.

My setup is a homemade folding table (built using plans from this kickstarter).

I use the TV in the basement and, now that I have RW, I will be using it for my games. Until now, I was using GIMP (i.e. open source photoshop) for a dungeon crawl in Undermountain. I used layers to simulate "fog of world". The player map was under the fog and the "secrets" map under the player's map. As the group moves through the dungeon, I erase the fog. If the discover a secret door, I erase just enough of the player map to show the secret door underneath.

Voilà! No more mapping, even for Undermountain.

For the record, I feel sorry for any group that runs up against that Dinosaur on the wall. Blood will be spilled when Mr. Rawr is rolled as a random encounter. :D

Seriously though, that table is neat.

Interesting "semi-portable" Good Job!
Nice Waterdeep Map on the wall too:D

I pondered going with a "portable table", but have no place to store (no basements in Texas.. Houston anyway) and too many players (8-11) So convinced (thru hunny do negotiations) the wife that the "wide spot" in the hall upstairs was a good spot for a game room.
(see my links earlier in this thread)

Wow. I can't even imagine.

Its not as bad as one would think,, the type of work I do helps elevate my "Ranks" in managing large groups, & having managed gaming tourneys was probably good training.. lol

Also, I delegate. I take some old school (pre-1e) techniques, such as a caller, and a chronicler certainly helps.

My caller manages initiatives, spell durations, following order, who's on watch, etc. With so many players, I am also a stickler for H.O.S.T. (Having Our S*** Together). If the player doesn't have an action ready, it's analysis paralysis and is tagged as a hold or readying, and the initiatives are adjusted accordingly.

The Chronicler keeps up with game day duration stuff (which is ANOTHER REASON I WANT the CALENDAR Feature HINT HINT LWD... hehe) , food, water, thrown or fired weapons & charges, spells used. IF the Chronicler and the Player tracking are misaligned, the Chronicler is the "law"... this makes sure the players effectively communicate to the chronicler what they use.
Actually once the players get used to it things flow pretty smooth.

The hard part is the mobile Players... have 3 young men stationed in various places around the globe(one in Korea, one in Afghanistan, on at Ft Hood).. so skyping kinda works for them (when the various timing aligns) Looking forward to seeing where the marriage of LWD herolab & D20pro goes... hopefully improving that part.....

I also enjoy large groups. we routinely run 6-9 players. Its a different style, and as Galen said, it takes a group effort to manage.

Can I just say that I love that this thread is still going strong?! When I dream about the house that Joe and I will one day buy, the gaming room is the first thing I design in my head. Many of your awesome layouts have influenced how it looks in my head.

Thanks! I had been wanting a true gaming table for a while, so the kickstarter was great for me.

Don't do a room, it's too small. Convert the garage into a gaming room (your cars can stay outside were they belong). I have heating and air-conditioning (since I live in Northern Nevada it ranges from 10 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit year round). The only wish I have was when I had the house built I wish I would have put insulation in the garage walls and roof. I have since put insulation in the roof but walls are much harder.

MY head nearly exploded a wife who "WANTS" a gaming room, does this Joe realize how rare and precious you really are?
