Weird error messages

AMS

New member
Hi,

I've searched the forums, and I couldn't find this. I'm sorry if this a known problem with a known solution.

I haven't used Hero Lab for a while (work got in the way) and when I restarted it, and tried to load an old portfolio, I got a bunch of error messages, along the lines of:

"Portal 'ClsSkPrim' references agent auto-tag 'SpecSource.cHelpRoj' that does not exist"

Being naive, as I am, I tried deleting HeroLab and all its associated files and redownloaded it. Same problem.

If I create a new portfolio, I don't have any problems.

At one point, in the past, I tried to create a variant class, because one of my players wanted a slightly different Rogue that I was ok with. I did change some stuff, but I have completely forgotten what I did, and at this point, with the deletion of all the files and re-downloading, it is gone.

Do I need to just completely recreate the portfolios that used to use?

Yeah, if you had created a new class, and then used that on a character, and the definition of that class is no longer available, then any portfolios that used that content will have problems - they won't know what to do with this data that's stored in them, but no longer matches the data in the program.

Before you delete the entire portfolios, however, there may be less drastic steps that may work - for example, if this is just about a variant of the Rogue class, then I'd first try deleting all Rogue levels from those characters, see if that removes the error message, and if so, you can simply add the same number of levels of the regular rogue class back, and then only have to re-enter a few details, like the skill proficiencies.
