Very Attractive Charisma Bonus

While making a 'face' character who is starting with both the Attractive and Very Attractive edges, I noticed that Very Attractive was adding 4 Charisma on top of the 2 given by Attractive for a total of 6. The way I read the Edge descriptions, Very Attractive should only be adding 2 more for a total of +4.

Am I alone here? The wording in SW Deluxe could be read the other way I think, but it doesn't seem supported, and would be a far greater increase than that given by other 'improved' edges like Improved Dodge, Improved Tough as Nails, Expert, etc.

The reading is right, but for the program it's working fine for me. I'f I make a character from scratch with both Edges I only get a +4 total, as I would expect. What settings are you using with the character?

I just tried it zarlor and it is working for me also. When I pick both edges I have a +4 Charisma. I just answered the question as it was written and didn't check it in the program until now. Either you have something else adding a +2 or you got a glitch Omphaloskeptic and you might just try to make a new character and see if it is corrected.

One other thing you can check is on the "Basics" tab of your portfolio hover over the "6" in your Charisma. It should say what is being added into there. For that character I just made it states "Starting value of 0, Attractive (+2), Very Attractive (+2)" See if there is something else stating "(+2)" on the listing for your character. Or if one of them does show +4 instead of +2 it could be a setting-specific problem, so knowing which setting has the problem will give us another way to look at fixing it (if it's one of our setting files, anyway.)

P.S. Good to see you back here, jbear. :) I hadn't seen you piping up in some of the other threads recently. I was missing you!

LOL - thanks zarlor, I have been checking in to see what was happening but didn't pipe in to answer any questions, because after finishing the High-Space Files, I was giving my brain a break from any Hero Lab question and working on anything in hero lab except making characters. LOL if you know what I mean. The file for starships fried my brain getting it to work right and I needed a rest. LOL

I know what you mean. I've been meaning at some point to convert the vehicles in Tour of Darkness to the standard format and add NPCs and creatures to all the data files I've done but I've kind of been taking a break from it all as well.

Wow.

I ... I completely overlooked (also: forgot!) the fact that I had added Charismatic as an advance, then went back to Character Creation mode -- just screwing around.

It was a dumb mistake -- but I swear I'm not always a moron.

Sorry to waste your time (though it seems I may have facilitated a reunion of sorts) but thanks for the quick answers anyway.

Happens to the best of us. Trust me there is no evidence on these forums whatsoever of my asking for help on an "if-then" statement where I boneheadedly forgot to just add the "then". None whatsoever. Really. Don't bother looking. ;)
