Version 8.3 of the Pathfinder files is now available

A new update of the Pathfinder files for Hero Lab is now available from the automatic updates mechanism within Hero Lab. This update is mainly for the Advanced Class Guide Playtest - all of our playtest material has been updated to match the Revised Advanced Class Playtest.

We've also added the NPCs from Towns of the Inner Sea - you'll find those among the Import Stock Hero options in the Portfolio menu. This update also includes several bug fixes.

Here's the complete change list for this update. As a reminder, the change lists for all updates are available from the "Pathfinder Roleplaying Game FAQ" option in the Help menu.

Enhancements & Changes

  • The Advanced Class Guide playtest has been updated to match the Revised Advanced Class Guide Playtest.
  • The NPCs from Towns of the Inner Sea are now availble from the Import Stock Hero option in the Portfolio menu.
Bug Fixes

  • The purchase dialog for composite longbows and composite shortbows was not showing properly.
  • An incorrect error could be generated by some of the Animal Archetypes from Animal Archive.
  • If the Totem Guide animal archetype was added to the animal companion, but not yet added to the master, the error message only said "????" instead of explaining the error.
  • The Swashbuckler was getting too many bonus feats.
  • The Dire Bat animal companion was incorrectly increasing it's natural AC bonus to +6 at 7th level. It now correctly increases to +3.
  • The Shieldmarshal PrC's Gunmarshal class ability was not applying any situational bonus, regardless of the level gained.
  • The damage penalty for a weapon being broken was being added instead of subtracted.
  • The Deadly Guidance path ability was setting its name for copies after the first added.
  • The Beheaded race from Bestiary 4 was missing its variants.
  • The Warden of the Woods specific armor was throwing errors because of the material it is made of.
  • The Meticulous drawback was not considering skill ranks from items or innate ones added by a race.
  • The Horse Master feat was not increasing the effective druid level of a Horse animal companion correctly. Huntmaster had a similar problem.
  • The Shaman class was throwing errors that more spirit magics needed to be added.
  • The various Elemental Damage Resistances have been renamed "Energy Resistance", to avoid confusion with Damage Reduction.
  • The Gifted Linguist and the Truespeaker racial abilities were not doubling the languages learned when Linguistics ranks were added by items.
  • Several racial abilities for core races were still functioning when disabled (by the zombie template, for example).
  • Half Orcs were missing the Orc Blood racial ability.
  • Half Orcs and Half Elves were not qualifying for feats and traits that required the Human race.
  • The Enhancement bonus to attacks from being masterwork was stacking with other enhancement bonuses, for example, from the Magic Weapon spell adjustment.
  • The Transformative item power was not being restricted to only melee weapons.
  • The Skill Focus feat was not increasing its bonus when 10 ranks were being added by an item.
  • Bonus evolution points added by the Wild Caller archetype were not stacking correctly with those added by the half elf favored class bonus.
  • The Inspire Courage conferred ability adjustment was applying the wrong sort of damage bonus, and it had a slight delay before it was added.
  • Spellbooks could not be printed for the Investigator and Arcanist playtest classes.
  • Ranged weapons were not showing ranged bonuses to damage (such as deadly aim) when printing a character sheet.
  • Power Attack was functioning incorrectly when applied to the off hand end of a double weapon.
  • The Heirloom Weapon trait could not select spiked shields.
  • The Noble Scion PrC was not allowing persuasive to be selected as a bonus feat.
  • The Blood Money spell was not appearing on the magus and witch spell lists. It also had an incorrect description and level. Please note that characters with the 2nd-level version will need to delete and re-add the spell.
  • The Gatecrasher ART and custom racial trait was incorrectly adding to CMD versus sunder attempts, not to CMB for sunder checks.
  • The Wings of Air oracle revelation was not showing on printed and PDF output, or on the Specials tab.
  • The midsummer sickle weapon had only a bonus to attack, rather than an enhancement bonus to attack and damage.
  • Several specific magic/custom weapons, such as the Rod of Spell sundering, icicle wand, adamantine battle axe, and masterwork silver dagger were incorrectly stacking thier masterwork bonus with any outside enhancement bonuses.
Data File Authoring

  • The EquipType.Masterwork tag has been added. It will be automatically assigned as appropriate when creating custom armor/weapons, or when specific magic weapons/armor has an enhancement bonus set. For specific armors & weapons which are only masterwork, and not magical, the tag should be assigned directly to the weapon/armor. The old method (assigning a bonus to the wAttack field) should no longer be used since it stacks incorrectly with normal enhancement bonuses, and only benefits melee attacks besides. Assigning the tag to a specific weapon or armor that you want to make masterwork will add the proper bonus to attacks for a weapon or the ACP bonus for armor.
  • The number of attacks gained by virtue of High BAB is now calculated based on the value of the BAB field on each weapon. This was important in the case of the Warpriest's Sacred weapons ability, which makes certain weapons count as having a higher BAB than the character normally has.
 
Thanks. Somebody accidentally broke the Boon Companion feat. I sent in a bug report, but I am saying something in case someone else wants to point it out. There are three characters in my group that have it. :(
