A new update of the Pathfinder files for Hero Lab is now available from the automatic updates mechanism within Hero Lab.

This update adds the new Advanced Race Guide package. This package is available for $9.99.

For those of you with the Campaign Setting #8 package (which already contains Giants Revisited), Paizo's new campaign setting book, Lost Kingdoms, has been added as a free update to that package. For those of you who don't have it yet, the package is available for $4.99. Down the road, this package will get one or more other books from the campaign setting line, as those books are released.

This update also adds player content from Pathfinder #57, and has a few bug fixes. Here's the complete change list, copied from the FAQ:

New Releases!

  • Content from the Advanced Race Guide is now available as a new package.
  • Content from Lost Kingdoms has been added to the existing Campaign Setting #8 package.
Enhancements & Changes

  • Added player content from Pathfinder #57, Tempest Rising.
  • Races have been reorganized to match the ARG's system for sorting races.
Bug Fixes

  • Distracting Attack rogue trick had a linebreak.
  • True Mutagen was only granting a +2 natural AC bonus (instead of +8).
  • Barbazu Beard Weapon was missing what type of damage (slashing) it did.
  • Weapons that could be used in the off hand without taking up a "hand" (such as the Barbezu Beard or the Bladed Boot) were conflicting when equipped with two handed weapons and normal weapons equipped in the off hand.
  • The Demonic Initiate prestige class had incorrect pre-requisites (required 8 ranks of Knowledge (Planes), but was released during 2nd Darkness, which was a 3.5 Adventure Path so it should have been reduced 3 ranks during the conversion to Pathfinder), now it correctly requires 5 ranks of Knowledge (Planes).
  • The Demonic Initiate's Flauros patron was granting Fire resist 10 before 5th level.
  • The Monk's Fast Movement ability was being disabled when the hero equipped light armor/shield, but it was still adding the enhancement bonus to speed despite being disabled.
  • Eyes of the Eagle have been updated to the new pathfinder description.
  • The Ninja's Ki Movement ability should not be disabled while encumbered.
  • The Major and Minor Magic rogue talents now display the description of the chosen spell.
Data File Authoring

  • Added the AddCompLis tag group, when assigned to a class, it will expand the choices for animal companions to allow any associated races with a matching tag. Note that this is different from the CompList tags, which only narrow choices for companions, never expand them.
  • Added the Helper.NoCureInf tag, when assigned to a hero it prevents the bootstrapping of the bonus Cure/Inflict spells known for an Oracle. Used for the Purifier oracle archetype.
  • Added the Helper.BrdPerform tag, which marks the Bardic performance abilities so that they can be more easily selected in foreach/custom expressions.
  • Added two new damage resistances, for Negative energy and Positive energy.
  • Added the Hero.MutExArmor tag, when added to the hero it will increase the natural armor bonus granted by a mutagen by 1 (per tag assigned).
  • Added the Helper.NoHandWeap tag, when added to a weapon, it will no longer count as taking a hand to wield (thus preventing conflict with other equipped weapons). This is used for Barbazu Beards, Bladed Boots, and several new weapons from the Advanced Race Guide.
  • Added the ClsDenySp tag group. Like the ClsAllowSp tags, these are applied to a class to modify their allowable spells, but instead of adding a spell this tag group removes it instead.
  • Weapon Familiarity racial specials have been modified so they can more easily be replaced by Alternate Racial Traits. As part of this, the weapon proficiency tags have been moved from the race to the specials, which then push them to the hero if not disabled. In addition, the racial specials now assign the EasyWeapon tags for the appropriate racial weapons, and such weapons have had the wEasyRace tags removed in favor of using the EasyWeapon mechanism.
  • The wGroup tag group has been phased out in favor of placing the WepProf tags on the appropriate class/racial special. It still functions for user made files, but was removed from core weapons because it complicated the ability of archetypes of ARTs to modify what weapons their Class/Race was proficient in.
  • Alternate Racial Traits can now control whether or not they are allowed for Pathfinder Society characters.
  • Favored Class Options can now control whether or not they are allowed for Pathfinder Society characters.

So wGroup.Natural appears to still exist and be on Natural weapons. Is this staying then or will it too be depreciated in a future release. If it does what should replace it then wFtrGroup.Natural?

I think the idea is that whatever mechanisms used to use wGroup no longer do so. Normally, when we replace that sort of thing, we try not to break user content that uses that mechanism while replacing it with the new mechanism - so no reason to delete it - a tag that currently serves no purpose may still be useful to leave in place for backwards compatability.
