A new update of the 5th edition files for Shadowrun is now available from the automatic updates mechanism within Hero Lab.

This update adds a new package for Shadowrun 5, containing Street Grimoire content. This package is available for $9.99.

Also, for those of you with the Sourcebook Bundle #1 package, we've added three more books as free updates of that bundle. The new books are Shadow Spells, Bullets & Bandages and Aetherology. If you don't already have this bundle, it already contains Stolen Souls, Gun Heaven 3 and Assassin's Primer and is available for $9.99.

Here's the complete change list for this update:
New Releases!

  • Content from Street Grimoire is now available! You can purchase this by choosing "Purchase Data Package" from the License menu.
  • Content from Bullets & Bandages, Shadow Spells, and Aetherology have all been added as free updates to the Supplements Package #1, which already contains Assassin's Primer, Gun Heaven 3 and Stolen Souls.
Enhancements & Changes

  • Added a new optional rule "Allow Adepts to Choose a Tradition". Since many of the traditions in Street Grimoire suggest preferred adept powers, this gives the option for Adepts who are not Mystic Adepts to choose a tradition. At this time, this choice will not have any game effects, and the only change users will see is that the preferred adept powers are highlighted while selecting powers, the same as a Mystic Adept would see. Those adepts who don't follow a specific tradition can leave this turned off and not have the tradition selection taking up space on the Magic tab.
Bug Fixes

  • Spells and abilities that could choose an element were getting many options that were in 4th edition, but were not carried over to 5th edition. The list has been pruned down to only allow the options from the Core Rulebook and Street Grimoire.
  • Stacked armor was applying its encumbrance, even when the parent armor was not equipped.
  • The dicepools listed for weapons were being affected twice by wound penalties and the penalties from the Status Effects on the Adjust tab.
  • The availability of the SecureTech PPP incorrectly included Forbidden legality.
  • The Ares Arctic Forces Suit and other armors that included a gas mask were applying their armor bonus as if they were an armor add-on, which meant their armor rating was added to encumbrance.
  • Characters with a Membership were reporting errors when they were saved.
  • The tasers from Run & Gun could not load ammo.
  • The Concealable Holster was missing its wireless bonus.
  • For a character with Wired Reflexes and Reaction Enhancers, with wireless turned on for both augmentations, although the initiative was getting the full bonus of both augmentations, the reaction was still limited by the usual +4.
  • The initiative of high-Force spirits was being calculated incorrectly.
  • The Mossberg AM-CMDT was missing its integral smartgun system.
  • In advancement mode, binding a weapon focus did not add the Bind Focus entry on the Advances tab.
Data File Authoring

  • Added a Racial Modifiers tab to the editor. Racial Modifiers are added on the basics tab, and are used to make modifications to a race - for example, to specify the insect species of an insect spirit or to apply the changes for a great form spirit.
  • Added an Adept Power Enhancement tab to the editor. Adept Power Enhancements are added on the magic tab, and can be bought as upgrades for the adept powers you've chosen.
  • Added an Alchemical Item Formula tab to the editor. This is for alchemical formulas that aren't a normal spell, such as the formula to make the Hand of Glory item in Street Grimoire. These are selected in the same list as normal Alchemical Formulas on the Magic tab.
