v1.3 Beta Testing....

Making a new thread for issues and stuff about v1.3 Beta testing to try and get organized again. :)

As soon as I get a compiled working version I will release it for testing by others. Unless its a fix I have frozen v1.3 and copied out all of the .user files from development.

I am thinking these beta testing releases will be number 1.3b1 for the b meaning beta testing before release to the community at large.

As I find issues I will post them below....

Starting to look at stuff finally and I have the following note from Bodrin:

The MM - Creature Types compiled.user file contains the MM - Creature Types
MM - Creature Subtypes.user Files.


The issue is I have the following actual file names:
MM - Creature types.user
MM - Monster Subtypes.user
MM - Monster Types.user


So are all three of these being replaced with MM - Creature Types compiled.user? My looking says yes but confirmation would be a great help.

Issue: Um what exactly is a Potato Samurai? It is a class but it is not source marked to any book. Doing a google search didn't get me anywhere. Anyone know what this is and which book it is from?

Also their is no Author or Editor notes in the file at all. Please add that info when creating new .user files so its easier for me to track down the person. Plus is nice to get credit correctly for your work. :)

Ah, I think I built an integrated Lay on Hands ability for monster races that have that ability so it will stack with class abilities.... or maybe it was for a feat? I'll look into it at home.

The Samurai Base Class is in Complete Warrior I believe.

Hmm so it does appear to be that class. If so why is it named Potato Samruai? I am not seeing the correlation.

Lots of little things with it at first glance with at least the descriptions that where not cleaned up when copied from the PDF and it not being correctly source marked. :(

Oh well got most of it cleaned up including moving Kiai Smite 1/day to level 3 instead of level 1.

Alright, for the Lay on Hands error I found the rub. I added 2 updated files to the dropbox, they are marked with vNewer at the end, replace the older ones with those and things should hopefully work. Tell me if any other errors pop up.

For the creature types compiled file, yes, all the 3 other files were put into that one, and I made some modifications and included "blank" copies of the old files to overwrite what is currently on the users HD and avoid duplication errors.

I will put a note ini the Samurai for MCXPotato as the author of the file.

Ok thanks. I was putting things in piecemeal to check for errors easier but I see I need to really need to do it all at once.

Back to getting this combined together. :)
 
So I got 1.3 build 1 ready for testing by others. I went through a bunch quickly but it seems pretty solid.

So could use help with input from others. Please download v1.3b1 and install it and see if anyone can find any issues.

Please post anything into this thread.

Also if any the editors could post any notes they have on the changes they did so I can compile all the notes for release.

Guys I grabbed all the files last week. The only errors I encountered on first loads were.

MM - Demon, Babau duplicate with MM - Babau
MM - Demon, Retriever duplicate with MM - Retriever
DrComp feats and Custom Core Book Mods files named vnewer duplicates once all old files were removed and renamed then HL loaded with no errors!

Is this from the import file above? Or from dropbox? The vnewer files where fixes Lawful_G gave me and I incorporated them into the data set and renamed them.

So you got errors when using the above import file about duplicate errors?

Also one can install into a test environment if they wish. Just follow the instructions on the last page of THIS document. This way you don't mess up any .user files you are working on.
 
Maybe we should combine all the demon races together into one file? I did so with the Angels and Archons, but there were only 3 of each of those... and so far I have been making seperate demon files.

I guess it doesn't really matter to the user.
 
They were from dropbox. I just edited the names for testing purposes!

This way we can see if I incorporated all the changes correctly from the dropbox. The most import to check is that their really are no duplicate thing errors as it will cause HL to go into safe mode and people will lose access to all their .user files. Plus this is the first time we have empty .user files going out that are intended to remove older .user files that have compiled together.

I am a little nervous about doing this as I miss one of those files and we totally break peoples data set. :(

I'm intending on removing all the old user files apart from my own custom stuff then grabbing the import file, to ensure full compliance with the new release.

I just noticed that newer files had been added in the past few days so i just grabbed the lot and debugged as errors cropped up. It's just that you must have posted the actual file on the forum after i'd spotted the newer versions in dropbox.

@Lawful_g - I think combining the demons into one file is the best way to go as it makes it nice and tidy, just like the Compiled monster types.
