.user question

Why would a .user file insert items into the base SW character options instead of creating a checkbox in the user content selections?

(This is one I've been given, not one I've created).

If I understand what your asking is that the items are showing up when if nothings check, it's in the normal Savage Worlds stuff. If that's the case then that's easy to answer.

1) When the file was made they didn't give the file a separate source and left it in the basic SW Data file.

To change that you will have to open that file in the editor and give each item in that file the same source. One that you make your self. either zarlor or I can run you through how to do that if you want or email me the file and I can do it for you. just let me know what you want to do.

Okay, I think that makes sense to me -- I remember using the source information for the small file I created. I'm going to fiddle with that a bit and see what happens.

Thanks!

Edit: Yes, that solved that particular problem -- I'm new to this and had forgotten about the source box. Thanks again; sorry to be ask such questions. I will pass the information back up the line. Now to figure out if that's tied to the compiling errors I seem to be getting that he wasn't getting. Thanks thanks thanks.

No problem, glad that helped.

That's what the forums are for and no question is to small. We help each other and we can get things done. LOL

You might have the same Unique ID's on one of the items in one of your user files, that would stop it from compiling or something small like that. If you keep having the problem send me the file and I will take a look. I have a little experience with user files. I did High Space, I will be releasing a new High Space update very soon to correct a few things.

What jbear said. I'm a bit out of pocket on vacation right now, but when I can check in I'll be happy to help out where I can as well. Like jbear I've done some data file authoring as well so we might have some experience that can help (although sometimes we won't, as I'm nowhere near the coding guru with this stuff that folks the Lone Wolf folk like CapedCrusader and Matthias are!)
