Having issues since the new encounter builder.

everything starts up just fine and updates.
I have a number of user items loade including forgotten realms v2.1 and the new update for ebberon, as well as the community beastiary.
unfortunately when i open the configure your hero box it tells me there are no user sources defined. yet if i look under tools/manage 3rd party updates i see them all

anyone else having this issue or if anyone knows how to fix it that would be appreciated

The only reason would be your getting an error message at start up and HL has gone into safe mode. So no addons are getting loaded. Restart HL and Pathfinder and when you see the error message Right Click and select copy. Then paste the message here and we can try and help.

I was having the same problem when first updating. Right after compiling the files the first time it came up with an error. I shut the program down and restarted it. No error showed up and it went straight to safe mode. I had to do a Compile Data Files from the editor to get the error to show back up.

I got an error message from the update.
I closed Hero Lab and then opened it again.

It is giving me a lengthy error message, which I cannot copy/paste when I attempt to load heroes from prior to the update.

One or more required sources are not accessible for hero 'Thrym'. Subsequent errors may be the result of this problem.

I'm not getting the error on my laptop, which followed the exact same clicks for updating... downloaded everything Pathfinder releated, that showed an exclamation for an update available.

You have to post the first error messages your getting.

The errors above show either HL has gone into safe mode because of an initial error your getting on load. Or you never installed the addon packages on the computer opening the .por file.

If you load say Eberron on computer A and then make a character it will then require Eberron. So if you open the character on the iPad or another computer you have to also load Eberron onto that decices also.

I tried to re-download the Hero Lab update.
This is my error message:

The data files could not be loaded due to errors. Hero Lab will now attempt to load them in recovery mode. Once loaded, you can access the editor as normal to correct any errors.

The following error occurred:

Thing 'rKleestad' - Boostrap thing 'tmPFRSPain' does not exist

The only option is to click OK.

You need to download the community bestiary v2.19 file and update that as it corrects this error.

the message I get at startup is this

Hero Lab should be showing a list of errors when you start it up, along with thing ids specific to the items throwing errors. I cannot diagnose errors without specific information, but I do have bug reporting threads set up for my files. If you find anything throwing an error, I need to see the list of initial error messages before I can fix it. The reasoning is twofold, I only do the Forgotten Realms, Ravenloft, Dark Sun and Dragonlance data sets (Dragonlance is coming soon to my list of updates), and I need to see if it something from my data, or someone elses. The second reason is that without specific id names I can't figure out what is throwing the error. I ran all the updates and had no error messages pop up regarding Forgotten Realms or any of the other sets of data I created.

I did post the report earlier but it says the message needs to be approved before its seen, here it is again.
I tried looking for a mod that started with fap but did not see one

Ok, well based on what you posted, I can see it's not coming from the Forgotten Realms files. I don't know who uses the AP in their names for 3rd party products, but it is not me. I currently use FR (Forgotten Realms), DS (Dark Sun), RV (Ravenloft), and DL (Dragonlance) for my files. I have some personal files that use RX or SH but those are not available for public release, only my players have those files and they've not encountered problems with them.

If I had to guess, my assumption would be your issues are coming from the Community Bestiary or Player Pack, but that is just a guess.

You downloaded and installed "PFRPG_AP_KingMaker_SwordScion.user" which says:
d20pfsrd said:
Author: Tim Shadow Desc: This changes the Kingmaker trait Sword Scion to work with the Dueling Sword from the Adventurers Armory file from this site. The feat Aldori Dueling Mastery from the campaign setting added that works with the AA dueling sword. Version: v1.1

As the text says it's made to work with the Adventurer's Armory user file from d20pfsrd not with the AA from Lone Wolf. If you have the official version of AA from Lone Wolf you want to download "PFRPG_AP_KingMaker_SwordScion_wl.user" instead.

So HL is complaining because it can't find the Dueling Sword from the file "PFRPG_PC_AdventuresArmory_ArmWep.user".

Ways to fix:
1) If you don't have the AA package from LW then install the Adventurer's Armory from d20pfsrd repository site.
2) If you have the AA package from LW then remove the file "PFRPG_AP_KingMaker_SwordScion.user" and install "PFRPG_AP_KingMaker_SwordScion_wl.user" instead.

thanks alot

No problem. This should help you figure out which data files the errors are coming from. You know what my unique id monikers I use now.

Hope you enjoy the realms data. It is a major undertaking to manage the project and get it done, but it has come together slowly over the months.

Hmm...I'm getting an odd message on startup as well.
I was using the beta versions of Encouner Builder, but I had some issues with some of my characters loading when I migrated to a new laptop.

I uninstalled HL, then downloaded the latest version, reinstalled it, re-registered it, etc. Then I copied my .user files over from my old laptop. Now, however, I'm getting the following error and I can't figure out what file these Things would be in. If anyone has an idea, that would be great:

The data files could not be loaded due to errors. Hero Lab will now attempt to load them in recovery mode. Once loaded, you can access the editor as normal to correct any errors.

My take is you missed important structure/control files. My advice in the future is go to your programdata\herolab\download folder and copy out the .hl files instead of trying to copy out the .user files. As we often also install .1st files to control things which appears you didn't copy over.

So unfortunately you don't have all the files to load the CB anymore. Go to THIS post and re-setup the Community Servers. Then download the latest version of the Community Bestiary and let it install itself from the install file. You should be good to go after that. :)

Ah! Thanks, ShadowChemosh - that did the trick. I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling HL just to make sure I completely removed those extraneous .user files. When I'd finished reinstalling and updating the CB and the like, I was still getting some odd missing source errors, but I think they were because the characters were created a year or two ago with older versions of the CB (and my own .user files). The characters themselves were fine, just with the irritating error on startup, but once I "stripped missing sources", they're hunky-dory! :)

Cheers for your help, as always. :)
