IMHO Paypal is probably the best way to go. Almost everyone has a PayPal
account and it provides you with that extra security.

Actually, after investigating it a bit, PayPal offers LESS security than
what we already have in place. PayPal doesn't utilize all the anti-fraud
security features that we currently do on our site. And their service is
more expensive.

As I posted previously, unless PayPal can be shown to provide added value
to us (i.e. access to a significantly large base of international customers
that we can't currently support), there is no reason to support them. Their
service is more expensive, requires extensive extra work on our end to
integrate PayPal into our current system, and offers lower security than
our current system. And that doesn't even take into consideration PayPal's
poor reputation among other businesses that I know.

I verified with our credit card gateway (one of the biggest) that they (the
gateway) do not offer support for international debit cards. I'm still
investigating this, but access to the international debit card networks has
to go through a completely separate mechanism that may not even be
available for merchant use over the internet. That's not exactly a
surprise, since I haven't seen it offered by any of the major sites I've
utilized, even those with a large international presence. I'm still
investigating to find out for sure.

In the meantime, there's no further reason to chew up bandwidth on this
list about international payment options. If anyone has concrete data
regarding use of PayPal internationally WITHOUT the need for a credit card
(outside of the UK), please send it to me directly at rob@wolflair.com.
Otherwise, I'm still investigating everything on this end....
