Updates and Beta testers

I spent 2h doing data uploads and worked in multiple tabs to see how fast it goes... it is quite agile and I love it. Tab rendering when the content is heavy on snippets is still not in an instant, but feels faster than before, which is good improvement.

I don't work with big images, therefore can't see any improvement for me, but I hope the other guys that go crazy with the size will let us know :)

Opening and switching tabs I very fast. Has anyone tried working with larger images? I don't have time before work.

Updated to Beta and crashes upon loading my existing realm.

See attached error report.

Reverted back to 245 and realm opens normally. Just checked to see if the real was ok or somehow corrupted.

Installation was smooth. Currently not noticing much difference, but I've recently been working on a new realm. I'll need to load some of my larger realms to see if I notice a performance difference. Never had major issues with the older versions.

One thing I will need to test is having lots of content open in the player view. That is about the only time I could consistently crash RW in the past.

Is there going to be a beta-specific forum/thread?

I'm a pre-KS beta tester, came in during the second round of intake IIRC. I don't believe the team have heard much from me recently, but that's because I haven't had much to report—RW is so much more stable these days :p

Super excited for the 64 bit beta though, definitely gotta get my hands on that. I don't see a link in the blog post though, and the text of the URL is truncated so I can't copy and paste. Where have people been getting it?

Links are in this thread: http://forums.wolflair.com/showthread.php?t=61660

If the link is truncated, right-click on it and select "Copy Link Location" (or your browser's equivalent). Then you can paste it as text somewhere else.

Tried it out tonight, on both my main computer and on my convertible. I don't have a whole lot to say as I don't have huge realms that stress the application like some of the other folks do. My convertible runs 32-bit Windows and things are looking good there so far. Let's hope things continue that way. :)

You fixed the bug where deletion of custom tag in custom tag domain or in pre-defined tag domain crashes the application!!!

Tried exporting the content, upgrading and re-importing, still get the same error message "index outside of array" something.... So I guess I have something in my realm, that crashes the 64b Version. :(

Windows 7 and Beta testing

Hello Developers,
I thought that I read somewhere that you will no long support Win7 for Realms Work (RW), and since I use Win v7 on my gaming laptop which I want to test the RW 64-bit version, are you going to want bug reports from me?

Best,
Mike Wittek

Yes, please send in bug reports. At this point, we are still supporting Win7. Even if we stop supporting it in the future, we absolutely want RW to be as stable as possible Win7 prior to that point, since anyone still on Win7 will be limited to the most recent version that does support the O/S. :)

Yes, that was one manifestation of the crash bug that was reported as down in the "Utility DLL". :)

Also fixed the bug where it crashed if it you clicked too many times while it was saving!!! So annoying then, so much better now!!!

Go TEAM LWD go!

I'm not using my largest realm much anymore, but I do get this error when opening certain items: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

Fantastic! :)

Lol yes, I was trying to reproduce this yesterday, didn't work fortunately!

This beta is exactly what I was hoping it is - nothing fancy on the front-end, but tremendous improvement on the back-end! :)

Thanks to mhwittek for asking and to Rob for his answer. I'm not going to upgrade my Win7 machine until I absolutely have to.

Now to go ahead and make a backup of my realm and d/l the update.
