Update traits for opened file

I just bought the Classic Bundle for Pathfinder in part because my daughter and one other player wanted to have certain traits that weren't in the main package. Once I open their character file, those traits aren't available - even though they show up in the opening screen. How do I update their character files?

From the Character menu, choose "Configure Hero". Then, look at the configure hero settings - are the new books turned on?

For each character, press Ctrl-K to open the Configure Hero screen (or you can open it from the Character menu). Make sure the new books are checked.
