I have just updated my AB files to the latest 40k files from April.
I know that previous army lists will not show up correctly until
resaved in the new format. However, I can't find a way to refresh
individual saved units. I have created several units in the last
version and find that even when I re-add the unit to the new list, it
is not registered for validation purposes.

For instance, my chaos lord is a unit I saved in an earlier version.
I have resaved the army lists that he is a part of. However the army
no longer conforms to the validation rules. I get an error
saying 'An Emperor's Children army must be lead'...etc. If I delete
my lord, and create him from scratch there are no problems.

Is there a way to update individual units to the new version without
re-creating them, copying the descriptions and re-saving?

Thanks for any assistance.

I believe that the saved units suffer from the exact same problem as full
rosters. If you have saved units from a previous set of data files, load
each in and then save them back out. After doing this, you should be able
load them again and have them work correctly.

Please note that the exception to this is if the particular unit you have
saved happen to have been changed in the new data files.

Also, it's possible that I'm completely wrong on this. If so, please let me
know. If it's not the same problem as full rosters, I'll need to figure
this one out and get it fixed.

Thanks, Rob

I finally got around to doing this, and the problem was not
resolved. I imported all of the units into an army list of the new
data files, and saved them out again. I then re-imported the saved
files and the errors are still showing up.

I am doing the experiment with my chaos lord (I use an emperor's
children list). It is possible some changes were made to the lord in
an EC list. One really odd thing is when I accidentally imported a
second instance of the lord. AB told me that I could only have one
lord, and that the army needed to be lead by a lord; so AB must be
recognizing the old data files as a 'chaos lord' it just does not
qualify as counting toward the 'lord' requirement.

Enjoy,
Craig

As I mentioned, the exception is if the unit has actually changed in some
way. If so, then the loaded unit will often continue to exhibit behaviors
it had in the OLDER data files. This appears to be the problem you're
encountering with the Chaos Lord. Please try this with a unit that you know
has NOT been modified and let me know if it continues to fail (it shouldn't).

Thanks, Rob
