Unique ID Question

Are you talking about a class specifically? A default identifier in the editor? Or in another place?

Without more information, the answer is 'maybe'. :-)

Assuming you mean the one in the Editor that can be changed from the Tools menu with "Set User Identifier" command... it is "necessary" in the sense that it helps to avoid problems from duplicate names.

If you have a Feat named "Excellence" that you want to implement, the unique ID fExcellen would be obvious. But if LoneWolf (for example) has implemented a different Feat (or even the same one) named "Excellent" as fExcellen (even in a package you did not purchase), then yours would generate an error.

The purpose of the 3-letter code is to separate your efforts from someone else's. It is not perfect. My initials, MEG, could be used for Mystic Eye Games' materials, and things would still collide.. but it is less likely if the 3-letter code is there.

There should be no problem with changing it on your own files... but you should choose something that is likely to keep your materials different from those of other people. Don't just take it out, in other words; find an alternative that you like.
