Unable to load AB from disk or website

Hi all I keep getting the following message:

ab32.exe has stopped working

I have tried it both from the website and by purchasing the disk but with no luck.
 
Did you try running it in Admin mode...just right click on the icon and select Run as Admin. Something could be blocking it because of the Automatic Update thing?
 
Even if your user account is the admin rclick and run it in admin. I've had to do that in the past with some other programs.
 
When do the crash occur? Does it occur immediately after launching AB (i.e. before anyhting appears on your screen)? Does it occur after you select a game system? Or some other time? We need more information in order to have any chance of figuring out what's going wrong. Please provide us with as much detail as possible, since our only clues are the ones you give us and the more clues we have, the better chance we have to piece together the puzzle.
