Tried the Demo and have some questions.

Hi all, i just discovered Hero Lab while searching for a digital Character Sheet,
I tryed the demo and so far the software is impressive.
Seriously considering buying it.

I Imputing my Pathfinder Character in the Demo but i noticed 2 issues.

My character is a Human Paladin.

1st thing, i'm using the feat Exotic Weapon profiency (falcata) but when i take the feat in Hero Lab the falcata is not in the list of exotic weapons. Why?

second thing, my character is using the Human Favored Class option for paladin in Advanced player guide which give +1 Energy Resistance instead of +1 skills or +1 HP... but it look the hero lab do not have it... could only take 1+ skills or HP.

Last thing, it is possible to add custom magical item/armor/weapons?

When you buy the software with Pathfinder packages, you do get Core and supplement packages? (Everything that pathfinder can offer.)

The falcata isn't an item from the Core Rulebook, so until you've purchased a data package that includes that item, namely the APG or Adventurer's Armory, you won't have access to that item in Hero Lab. (You can also create a new Falcata entry using the integrated editor).

The same applies to the favored class options - you must own the APG package to use the favored class options that are in the APG.

On the weapon and armor tabs, the top table is "New Magic, Custom or Masterwork". Add a new item to that table, and in each case, choose the top-most item - that's how you can create masterwork weapons, or +1 flaming weapons, etc.

The editor is available from the Tools menu within Hero Lab...Launch Editor. Using that, you can create entirely new magic items (or lots of other things).

A questions about liscensing:

EX: we are 4 people that want to buy and use Hero Lab, we all want to have access Core Pathfinder Player Guide and Advanced Player Guide in the software.

When buying a Pathfinder Hero Lab you get access to 2 liscense and can buy 2 others liscense for 10$ each, so this means we can all use 1 liscense of the entire package?

Software (including 2 liscense and Core data) = 30$
2 Additionall Liscense = 20$
1 Advanced Player Guide data = 10$.

Total 60$ and we all 4 can use Hero Lab with access to Core and Advanced Data? Is i'm right?


Or those additionnal Liscense are for 1 user only that want to install the software on multiples computers but can use only one at a time... if so that means if we 4 all want to use hero lab:

Software x4 = 120$
Advanced Player Guide x4 = 40$

Total 160$ if we all want to use it?

Each additional license lets you use it on another computer. The intent is one person, one purchase. I know people who've bought the multiple licenses and split it out among people, but that means giving those people access to your account and codes, which could lead to trouble down the road as they install it on other machines and you start getting license conflicts.

Honestly, if you're not keeping control of all four computers, I'd recommend the latter option. It's not only the most honest one, but it will also stave off licensing issues in the future.

The secondary licenses are for personal use, not to be given out to others. From the exampls you provided, both would work, the first one violates the agreement.

My recommendation would be for each play to get their own copy of HL. The cost is more per person but it will solve some potential problems you run into. for instance if you all share the same license, if a software issue happens, it will happen to all of you instead of just one. This can happen from time to time when you re-activate the license.
