I'm new to Hero Lab, so apologies if this has been asked and answered before.

If I choose "Traits & Drawbacks Require a Background" when configuring the character, my chosen AP campaign traits are all listed as invalid.

Is there any way to address this.
 
Hero Lab is giving you the behavior you have asked for. None of the campaign traits are tied to a background, so they will always be invalid if you choose to require a background for each trait selected.
